Covington Holy Cross coach Marty Rankin started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Jade Simpson, 5-7 Sr. Lauren Rankin, 6-5 So. Sidney Thomas, 5-6 Sr. Olivia Crigler, and 5-6 Sr. Trinity McClendon.  Middlesboro coach Scott Overby countered with 5-10 Sr. Lakyn King, 5-7 Sr. Baylee Woody, 5-10 Fr. Kailey Owens, 5-4 Jr. Brittany Davis, and 5-5 So. Gracie Gent.

 

Covington Holy Cross outscored Middlesboro 20-5 in the second quarter on their way to a 59-35 victory.  Covington Holy Cross shot 45.6% from the field including one of 14 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 24 Middlesboro turnovers.  Middlesboro shot 28.3% from the field including nine of 25 from beyond the arc.  The Yellowjackets was zero of three from the free throw line, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 16 Covington Holy Cross turnovers.

 

Sidney Thomas led Covington Holy Cross with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  5-7 So. Grace Bezold added 15 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Olivia Crigler recorded nine points.  Jade Simpson added seven points and seven rebounds.

 

Baylee Woody led Middlesboro with 17 points including three three point baskets.  Brittany Davis added six points including two three point baskets.  Kailey Owens recorded six points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and three steals.  5-6 Sr. Aubrey Sowders chipped in with six points including two three point baskets.

Metcalfe County defeated Louisville Holy Cross by a score of 58-49.  Metcalfe County shot 33.3% from the field including six of 19 from the three point line.  The Lady Hornets connected on 24 of 34 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 20 Louisville Holy Cross turnovers.  Louisville Holy Cross shot 34.5% from the field including one of nine from beyond the arc.  The Cougars connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 23 Metcalfe County turnovers.

 

Jaycie Harper led Metcalfe County with 16 points including 11 of 16 free throws, 10 rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Braelyn Davis added 14 points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.  Kaylee Harbison recorded 12 points including six of eight free throws, five rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Macy Welsh chipped in with 11 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds.

Danville lost the possession on a jump ball and Angela Gierhart gets to the rim for a layup as time expires to give Murray a 56-54 victory over Danville.  The score was tied six times and there were nine lead changes in the game.  Murray shot 53.3% from the field including eight of 19 from the three point line.  The Lady Tigers connected did not attempt a free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored four points off four Danville turnovers.  Danville shot 50% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Admirals connected on two of four free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 10 Murray turnovers.

 

Angela Gierhart led Murray with 19 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, and four assists.  Elizabeth Curtis added 12 points on four three point baskets.  Parker Greer recorded 12 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists.  Calli Carver chipped in with 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.  Makenzie Turley dished out eight assists.

MacKenzie Keelin led Owensboro Catholic with 18 points including four three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Hannah McKay added 12 points and four rebounds.  Sarah Clemens recorded eight points, four rebounds, and five assists.  Spencer Harvey chipped in with eight points, two rebounds, and four assists.

Amelia Hodges led Bethlehem with 11 points, three assists, and three steals.  Ella Thompson added eight points, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Maddie Sparks recorded seven points, six rebounds, and three steals.  5-7 Jr. Baeli Young chipped in with six points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Adrienne Beggs led Berea with 27 points, 17 rebounds, two blocked shots, and four steals.  Mati Stepp added eight points and three assists.  Madison Howell pulled down nine rebounds.  5-7 8th Grade Chesney Lovins also pulled down nine rebounds.

Owensboro Catholic led 24-22 at halftime but pulled away in the second half to defeat Covington Holy Cross by a score of 57-42.  The score was tied five times and there were six lead changes.  Owensboro Catholic shot 42.9% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Aces connected on 18 of 29 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 14 Covington Holy Cross turnovers.  Covington Holy Cross shot 30.6% from the field including six of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored four points off 14 Owensboro Catholic turnovers.

 

Hannah McKay led Owensboro Catholic with 20 points and three rebounds.  Sarah Clemens added 14 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots.  MacKenzie Keelin recorded 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals. 

 

Olivia Crigler led Covington Holy Cross with 14 points including four three point baskets and four steals.  Trinity McClendon added 11 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Sidney Thomas recorded nine points and six blocked shots.  Jade Simpson added five points, 13 rebounds, and three assists.

West Carter coach Aaron Rayburn started the following lineup: 5-6 Sr. Hannah Bear, 5-6 Fr. Allie Stone, 5-11 Sr. Morgan Berry, 5-4 Jr. Becca Nolen, and 5-5 Jr. Kallie Burchett.  Walton-Verona coach Mark Clinkenbeard countered with 5-9 Sr. Brooke Perry, 5-8 Jr. Emma Strunk, 5-11 Jr. Emma Gutman, 5-2 So. Haylee Neeley, and 5-6 Jr. Addisyn Michael.

 

Walton-Verona captured a hard fought 58-54 victory over West Carter.  There were six ties and one lead change in the game.  Walton-Verona shot 30.8% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line.  The Bearcats connected on 16 of 19 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored four points off five West Carter turnovers.  West Carter shot 32.8% from the field including four of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Comets connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Walton-Verona turnovers.

 

Emma Strunk led Walton-Verona with 25 points including two three point baskets, nine of nine free throws, and 10 rebounds.  Brooke Perry added 15 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.  Haylee Neeley recorded 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists. 

 

Allie Stone led West Carter with 14 points and six rebounds.  Morgan Berry added 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Hannah Bear recorded 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Becca Nolen chipped in with nine points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Kallie Burchett added seven points, four rebounds, and two assists.

Walton-Verona raced out to a 12 point lead midway through the second quarter but Owensboro Catholic’s size and length finally prevailed in a 44-40 victory over the Lady Bearcats.  The score was tied three times and there were eight lead changes in the game.  Owensboro Catholic shot 40% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Aces connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Walton-Verona turnovers.  Walton-Verona shot 40.5% from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bearcats connected on five of seven free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 Owensboro Catholic turnovers.

 

MacKenzie Keelin led a tall and talented Owensboro Catholic group with 11 points and four rebounds.  Hannah McKay added 10 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.  5-9 Jr. Isabella Henning came off the bench to score eight points including six of eight free throws and three steals.  Spencer Harvey recorded seven points and five rebounds.  Sarah Clemens and Madelyn Lyon each blocked two shots and Clemens pulled down six rebounds.

 

Haylee Neeley led Walton-Verona with 11 points, five rebounds, five assists, and only two turnovers despite constant defensive pressure.  Emma Strunk added 11 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and three steals.  Brooke Perry recorded eight points and six rebounds and Emma Gutman added six points, three rebounds, and three steals.
