Ensworth (28-2) vs. Brentwood Academy (24-4) Class AA (Girls)

 

Ensworth coach Mary Taylor Cowles started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Dontavia Waggoner, 5-9 So. Annabel Frist, 6-0 Fr. Kamil Collier, 5-6 Sr. McLean Whitson, and 6-0 So. Kaiya Wynn.  Brentwood Academy coach Rhonda Brown countered with 5-9 Jr. Lauren Graham, 5-8 Sr. Avery Kovick, 6-1 Jr. Maggie Brown, 5-5 Fr. Millie Brown, and 5-8 Jr. Blair Schoenwald.

 

Ensworth trailed by nine points with a little over two minutes remaining in the game but rallied for a 48-42 victory.  Coach Cowles upped the defensive pressure and rallied from a 41-32 deficit to finish the game on a 16-1 run.  Ensworth shot 35.7% from the field including one of 13 from the three point line.  They connected on 17 of 23 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and committed nine turnovers.  Brentwood Academy shot 38.7% from the field including six of 14 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and committed 24 turnovers.

 

Dontavia Waggoner led Ensworth with 21 points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals.  Kaiya Wynn added eight points , four rebounds, and two steals.  5-5 Fr. Jayda Woods recorded eight points including a key three point basket with 38 seconds remaining in the game.  Annabel Frist added seven points, five rebounds, and eight steals. 

 

Blair Schoenwald led Brentwood Academy with 13 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, and two steals.  Maggie Brown added 10 points and seven rebounds.  Millie Brown recorded seven points and four rebounds.  Lauren Graham chipped in with six points and four rebounds.  Avery Kovick pulled down seven rebounds.

Briarcrest (28-2) vs. Brentwood Academy (25-6) Class AA (Boys)

 

Briarcrest coach John Harrington started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. Omari Thomas, 6-2 Jr. Michael Malone Jr., 6-6 Jr. Marcellus Brigham, 6-0 So. Kennedy Chandler, and 6-1 So. Tyler Harrington.  Brentwood Academy coach Hubie Smith countered with 6-4 So. Randy Brady, 6-2 Jr. Devyn Curtis, 6-4 Jr. Cory Reynolds, 5-11 Jr. Adam Wass, and 6-1 Jr. Marcus Fitzgerald.

 

Briarcrest trailed 37-30 at halftime but outscored Brentwood Academy 21-9 in the final quarter to earn a 65-54 victory.  The score was tied 10 times and there were 19 lead changes in the game.  Briarcrest shot 55.9% from the field including four of seven from the free throw line.  They connected on 23 of 32 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and committed 12 turnovers.  Brentwood Academy shot 45.5% from the field including seven of 17 from beyond the arc.  They connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and committed 13 turnovers.

 

Kennedy Chandler led Briarcrest with 20 points including two three point baskets, eight of nine free throws, and five rebounds.  Marcellus Brigham added 18 points, four rebounds, and three assists.  Omari Thomas recorded 14 points including eight of eight free throws and six rebounds.

 

Marcus Fitzgerald led Brentwood Academy with 18 points including three three point baskets.  Randy Brady added 16 points including two three point baskets, four of four free throws, and four rebounds.  Adam Wass chipped in with nine points.  Cory Reynolds pulled down seven rebounds.

Christian Academy of Knoxville (26-5) vs. Providence Christian Academy (21-7)  Class A (Girls)

 

Christian Academy of Knoxville coach Abby Williams started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Mackenna Mozingo, 5-7 Sr. Claire Brock, 5-11 Jr. Hannah Carroll, 5-6 Sr. Ellie Fussell, and 5-7 Sr. Kennedy Smith.  Providence Christian Academy coach Tara James countered with 5-11 Jr. Sydney Gibson, 5-10 So. Annacaite Markham, 6-1 Sr. Yaubryon Chambers, 5-5 So. Alia Callum, and 5-8 Sr. Kaici Bivens.

 

The score was tied 14-14 at halftime but Providence Christian Academy pulled away in the second half to earn a 41-29 victory over Christian Academy of Knoxville.  Providence Christian Academy shot 40% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  They connected on 10 of 19 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and committed 12 turnovers.  Christian Academy of Knoxville shot 23.7% from the field including one of eight from beyond the arc.  They connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and committed 13 turnovers.

 

Yaubryon Chambers led Providence Christian Academy with 16 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots, and two steals.  Kaici Bivens added 10 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds. 

 

Hannah Carroll led Christian Academy of Knoxville with nine points and five rebounds.  Kennedy Smith added eight points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Tipton-Rosemark Academy coach Cedric Anderson started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Jalen Mansfield, 6-2 So. Ethan Stewart, 6-6 So. Alex Anderson, 5-11 Sr. Tysen Banks, and 6-1 Sr. Andrew Anderson.  Knoxville Webb coach Ricky Norris countered with 6-3 Jr. Emory Lanier, 6-2 Sr. Charlie Wyrick, 6-4 Jr. Uriah Powers, 6-1 Jr. Luke Burnett, and 6-2 Jr. Tariq Daughton.

 

Knoxville Webb defeated Tipton-Rosemark Academy by a score of 75-40.  Knoxville Webb shot 61.4% from the field including eight of 17 from the three point line.  They connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and committed 10 turnovers.  Tipton-Rosemark Academy shot 34.1% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc.  They connected on five of 10 free throws, pulled down 16 rebounds, and committed nine turnovers.

 

Luke Burnett led Knoxville Webb with 25 points including four three point baskets.  Uriah Powers added 19 points including five of five free throws, eight rebounds, and five assists.  Tariq Daughton recorded 14 points and five rebounds.

 

Alex Anderson led Tipton-Rosemark Academy with 21 points and five rebounds.  Tysen Banks added nine points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and four steals.
