There are sixteen teams entered in the tournament this year, all from Kentucky. I will cover all the games in tournament bracket and selected games in the consolation round games.

Cooper vs. Bardstown

 

Cooper coach Tim Sullivan started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Zac Jennings, 6-2 Sr. Kevin Centers, 6-5 Jr. Jacob Deere, 6-0 Sr. Gavin Pearson, and 6-1 Sr. Gavin Rabe.  Bardstown coach James “Boo” Brewer countered with 6-6 Jr. Trevin Tree Pope, 6-1 Jr. Javon Smith, 6-9 Sr. JJ Traynor, 5-10 Sr. Tereylin Calbert, and 6-1 Sr. JaRel Montgomery.

 

Bardstown defeated Cooper by the score of 57-49.  Bardstown shot 52.5% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line.  The Tigers connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Cooper turnovers.  Cooper shot 33.3% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Jaguars connected on 16 of 19 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Bardstown turnovers.

 

JJ Traynor led Bardstown with 17 points, five rebounds, and four blocked shots.  JaRel Montgomery added 13 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and nine assists.  Tereylin Calbert recorded nine points including two three point baskets.  Javon Smith chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.

 

Gavin Rabe led Cooper with 15 points including six of eight free throws, and six rebounds.  Kevin Centers led 14 points including five of six free throws, and seven rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Jaxon Rollins recorded nine points including three three point baskets.

Collins vs. Tates Creek

 

Collins coach Chris Gaither started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Marcellus Vail, 6-1 So. Aaron Thompson, 6-4 Jr. Caleb Hawley, 5-10 Sr. Tyson Turner, and 6-1 Sr. Dayvion McKnight.  Tates Creek coach Jarrod Gay countered with 6-2 Sr. Amari Taylor, 5-10 Sr. Cion Townsend, 6-4 Jr. Josh DuToit, 5-6 Sr. Maxwell Morton, and 5-11 Sr. Seth Davis.

 

Tates Creek led 40-27 in the third quarter but Collins rallied for a 65-63 victory.  The score was tied 10 times and there were seven lead changes in the game.  Collins shot 53.1% from the field including six of 11 from the three point line.  The Titans connected on seven of seven free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored28 points off 15 Tates Creek turnovers.  Tates Creek shot 52.1% from the field including six of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Commodores connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Collins turnovers.

 

Marcellus Vail led Collins with 18 points including four three point baskets, and six rebounds.  Dayvion McKnight added 15 points including five of five free throws, six rebounds, and three steals.  Aaron Thompson recorded 12 points and three rebounds.  Tyson Turner chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets, four assists, and two steals.  Caleb Hawley added eight points, six rebounds, and four assists.

 

Amari Taylor led Tates Creek with 18 points including two three point baskets, six assists, two blocked shots, and three steals.  5-10 Fr. Beechwood defeated Paintsville by the score of 57-50.  There were 11 lead changes and four ties in this game.  Beechwood shot 33.3% from the field including five of 18 from the three point line.  The Tigers connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 19 Paintsville turnovers.  Paintsville shot 39% from the field including two of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on 16 of 20 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored eight points off six Beechwood turnovers.

 

Scotty Draud led Beechwood with 21 points including nine of 13 free throws, nine rebounds, and three steals.  Will Downton added eight points including two three point baskets.  Cameron Decker recorded six points, five rebounds, and two steals.

 

Nick Keeton led Paintsville with 24 points including six of seven free throws, and 11 rebounds.  Colby Fugate added seven points, seven rebounds, and three steals.

North Oldham star and Auburn signee Justin Powell went out with an injury late in the game and Frederick Douglass earned a 74-70 victory over North Oldham.  There were 17 lead changes and five ties in this game.  Frederick Douglass shot 50% from the field including nine of 19 from the three point line.  The Broncos connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 21 North Oldham turnovers.  North Oldham shot 58.8% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Mustangs connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 Frederick Douglass turnovers.

 

DaShawn Jackson led Frederick Douglass with 26 points including five of six free throws, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Jaylan Green added 21 points and six rebounds.  Aidan Reid recorded 11 points including three three point baskets.

 

Tyler Higdon led North Oldham with 17 points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals.  Ian Higdon added 16 points and seven rebounds.  5-6 So. Austin Carr-Cole recorded 12 points including two three point baskets.  Dallas Roberts chipped in with 11 points.  Justin Powell recorded five points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Kelly Niece added Simon Kenton with 13 points, five rebounds, and four steals.  Logan Schwartz added 10 points, three rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Jeremy Davis recorded eight points including two three point baskets, three assists, and two steals.

Ben Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 18 points including two three point baskets and six assists.  Jack Gohmann added 16 points including two three point baskets, five assists, and two steals.  Jackson Smith recorded 14 points on seven of seven from the field and three assists. Luke Wedding chipped in with five points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
