The 41st Annual Rick Bolus High Potential “Blue-Chip” Basketball Showcase Camp (Boys) was held at the MidAmerica East Sports Center on June 30, 2021. The camp director for this camp was Rick Bolus with 48 years of experience in the basketball experience. Rick Bolus started the Rick Bolus High Potential® Recruiting Service in 1973. Mr. Bolus camp reports not only reach the desks of numerous college coaches nationwide, but also several all-star game directors.
Among the attendees at his camps included current or former NBA players such as Keita Bates-Diop, Rex Chapman, Norris Cole, Darren Hancock, Allen Houston, Jimmy Jackson, Dan Langhi, Brad Miller, Scott Padgett, Felton Spencer, Allonzo Trier, and DeJuan Wheat, and as well as former NCAA Division I players like Glendon Alexander, Jeff Brooks, Richie Farmer, Travis Ford, Pat Graham, Jack Ingram, A.J. Moye, Drew Neitzel, Larry O’Bannon, Jared Odle, John Pelphrey, Ty Rogers, Scott Sutton, Sean Sutton, and Albert White. Some attendees have went on to excel in other sports such as the 1999 NFL Draft Number 1 Pick, Tim Couch and former Major League Baseball pitcher, Derek Lowe.
A camp report will be made available via internet to almost 2,000 college coaches in early August. The campers will each play three games, have team practices, stations, contests, and guest speakers. Each player will receive a written evaluation from the camper’s league coach. The camp director is at camp the entire time observing each player’s performance. A certified trainer is at camp around the clock. There were 74 players in this camp from Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Michigan. They were placed into two divisions, the North and the South. The North consisted of Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, and Georgia. The South consisted of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. The overall champion and runner-up will be determined by a point system consisting of points awarded for league wins, sideline fast break drills, cut-throat competition, and shooting contests. Tie breakers if necessary will be determined by criteria set by the camp director. The following is a list of players plus team designations
The Rick Bolus’ High Potential® “Blue-Chip” Basketball Camp® is not affiliated with any other basketball camp using the names “High Potential” or “Blue-Chip”.
The Roster containing Rick Bolus’ player analysis is available at this link: 2021_Bolus_HS_Camp.pdf
Note: # refers to jersey number, and is not related to ranking Numbers 200-201 were not printed on the players’ jerseys but are used in this report for recording purposes only.

This camp had a lot of talent both expected and some pleasant surprises as usual. 5-11 Fr. Ty Price South Warren Bowling Green KY is a highly touted young player who seems destined for stardom. Price is a point guard who has range on his jump shot and has good all-around skills. 6-6 Sr. Brady Bell Russell KY is a n athletic wing player and a versatile scorer either on penetration or with his jump shot. 6-10 Sr. Gavin Allen Lynn Camp Corbin KY participated in the offensive camp but was unable to participate in the high school camp due to an injury. Allen can score and is a good shooter. 6-5 Sr. Jaiden Cox-Holloway Richmond Heights OH is an athletic combo forward with good skills. 6-5 Jr. Mason Guffey Taylor Co. Campbellsville KY is a deadly shooter with range on his shot. 6-6 Jr. Sosthene Kamba Eastern Louisville KY is athletic, jumps out of the gym, and has the tools to be special. 6-3 Sr. Colin Comer Greensburg IN is an athletic swing player and excellent scorer. 5-9 Fr. Myles Montgomery Minford OH excelled at the Middle School/Junior High Camp and brought his all-around skills to this camp also. 7-2 So. John Bol TBA has great size, blocks shots, rebounds, and has a rapidly improving offensive game. Bol works hard, has a great enthusiasm for the game and the sky appears to be the limit for this young man.
6-6 Sr. Holton Compton South Spencer Rockport IN is an athletic scorer with good size. 6-5 Sr. Michael Engle Lynn Camp Corbin KY is a big guard with good skills and is a good scorer. 6-7 Jr. Gunner Farley Eagletown OK is a hard-nosed blue collar worker with a good jump shot. 6-3 Sr. Carson Crozier Felicity-Franklin Felecity OH is deadly from beyond the arc. 5-11 Sr. Cameron Hunt Ezell Harding Christian Antioch TN is a lefty who runs the point, gets to the rim, and scores on his jump shot. 6-6 Sr. Walker Kyle Bearden Knoxville TN is a blue collar combo forward, works hard, and gets positive results. 5-10 Sr. Vito LaGioia Lake Park Roselle IL directs traffic, gets to rim, and creates for his team mates. 6-4 Sr. Bryce Reynolds Elmwood Bloomdale OH can score in a variety of ways. 6-4 Jr. Keith Robinson Pleasure Ridge Park Louisville KY is a versatile player who can score both inside or out with his jump shot.
6-10 So. Will Furnish Harrison County Cynthiana KY is a young post player with great size. 6-1 So. Jace Copley Lucasville Valley OH young player with an excellent shooting touch. 5-11 So. Tanner Hall Floyd Central Eastern KY is an excellent shooter with good range on his jump shot. 6-0 Sr. Reid Jury Hopewell-Loudon Bascom OH is an “old school” guard who prefers substance over flash and has good all-around skills and scores. 6-4 Sr. Zachary Kolley Tecumseh Lynnville IN is a scorer with good range on his jump shot. 6-4 Jr. Ben Merrell Miami Valley Christian Cincinnati OH well rounded player rebounds and scores. 6-1 Sr. Danny Stanton Sevier Co. Sevierville TN point guard is a good ball handler and an excellent defender. 6-2 Sr. Gavin Tudor Atherton Louisville KY is an excellent scorer with a good upside. 5-10 Sr. Terrell Walker Beecher Flint MI is a point guard who makes everyone on his team better. 5-9 Fr. Aidan Anstett St. Patrick Chicago IL young lefty has a bright future.
Several players impressed at this camp with the opportunity to play at the next level. I was intrigued with 7-2 So. John Bol. Bol is a young long, slender player who challenges every shot, rebounds, and has a rapidly improving offensive game. He plays with a lot of enthusiasm and really appears to enjoy the game.
While the staff was well pleased with this year’s camp, every effort will be made to improve the camp to make future versions even better.
