Woodford County (14-14) vs. Bryan Station (27-1)

Woodford County coach Jay Lucas started the following lineup:   6-1 Jr. Rhea Lynn Cook, 5-9 Sr. Sasha Williams, 6-0 Sr. LaMichelle Haddix, 5-5 Fr. Mallory Kirtley, and 5-7 7th Destiny Mattingly.  Bryan Station coach Jackie Williams countered with  5-5 Sr. Tierra Martin, 6-0 Fr. Tracy Harbut, 5-11 Sr. DeVonda Williams, 5-7 So. Sharia Young, and 5-7 Sr. Tamaka Clay.

Bryan Station, the No. 4 ranked team in the state, survived a variety of gimmick defenses to overcome a stubborn Woodford County squad 55-45.  Woodford County led 21-20 at halftime, but Bryan Station rallied for the win.

DeVonda Williams and Tracy Harbut led Bryan Station with 13 points each.  Sharia Young added 10 points.   Woodford County was led by LaMichelle  Haddix with 16 and Mallory Kirtley tallied 10.

Sayre (14-10) vs. Berea (21-8)

Sayre coach Bill Hill started the following lineup:  5-8 Sr. Emily Milward, 5-9 Sr. Cynthia Rush, 5-11 Jr. Laura Heil, 5-8 Jr. Annie Rardin, and 5-5 Jr. Kelly Russell.  Berea coach Jerry Bingham countered with 5-8 Sr. Thameka Baskin, 5-6 Sr. Stacee Blackburn, 5-6 So. Chrissy Himes, 5-3 Sr. Allyson Baker, and 5-9 Sr. Sarah Newman.

Berea used a 41 point performance by Allyson Baker to lead them to an 83-61 win over Sayre.  Berea led at all four quarter stops: 20-18, 42-34, 55-46, and 83-61.  Himes added 17 points and Newman chipped in with 15 in support of Baker's performance.   Sayre was led by Annie Rardin with 21 points.

Lexington Catholic (27-3) vs. Madison Southern (16-11)

Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd started the following lineup:  5-10 Fr. Chelsea Chowning, 5-8 Sr. Nessa Timoney, 5-8 Sr. Anna Schuler, 6-5 Sr. Lindsey Mazzetti, and 5-9 Jr. Katie Mendenhall.   Madison Southern coach Harold Borders countered with 5-7 Fr. Danielle Eisenbarth, 5-9 Jr. Lindsey Eisenbarth, 5-10 Sr. Jill Abney, 5-5 So. Amanda Walton, and 5-7 Jr. Courtney VanWinkle.

Lexington Catholic proved to be too tough for Madison Southern and won by a score of 52-28. The Catholic defense held Southern to 8 second half points.  Lexington Catholic was led today by 5-11 Sr. Kristin Robertson with 14 points.  Katie Mendenhall and Nessa Timoney each chipped in with 8.  Southern was led by 5-10 Sr. Jill Abney and Lindsey Eisenbarth with 10 each.

Paul Laurence Dunbar (15-14) vs. Franklin County (20-8)

Dunbar survived a wild one to defeat Franklin County 78-69 in overtime.  Dunbar tied the score at 63 with 5 seconds on a Katie Boaz basket.  Dunbar outscored Franklin County 15-6 in the overtime period for the win.  Franklin County star Allison Story fouled out with 24 seconds remaining in regulation.   Dunbar was led by 5-8 Jr. Neeley Thomas with 30 points. Franklin County was led by 5-10 Sr. Allison Story with 26 points and 13 rebounds.

Monday March 13th

Berea (22-8) vs. Bryan Station (28-1)   Semifinal No. 1

Berea coach Jerry Bingham started the following lineup:  5-8 Sr. Thameka Baskin, 5-6 Sr. Stacee Blackburn, 5-6 So. Chrissy Himes, 5-9 Sr. Sarah Newman, and 5-3 Sr. Allyson Baker.  Bryan Station coach Jackie Williams countered with 5-5 Sr. Tierra Martin, 6-0 Fr. Tracy Harbut, 5-11 Sr. DeVonda Williams, 5-7 So. Sharia Young, and 5-7 Sr. Tamaka Clay.

Berea staged a stunning comeback from a 32-9 first half deficit to edge Bryan Station 53-52.  While Bryan Station was hampered by the loss of Sharia Young who fouled out with 4:32 remaining, the main culprit was Allyson Baker who scored 36 points.  Baker hit the winning free throws with 8 seconds on the clock.  Bryan Station had a chance to tie the game with 2 seconds remaining but Tamaka Clay missed the second free throw.  Bryan Station was led by Clay with 17 and Young with 15 points.

Dunbar coach Jud Brown started the following lineup: 5-5 Sr. Ashley Roberts, 5-8 Jr. Neeley Thomas, 5-7 Jr. Katie Boaz, 6-0 Jr. Debbie Koseniak, and 5-9 Jr. Brooke Johnson.  Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd countered with 5-8 Sr. Anna Schuler, 5-10 Fr. Chelsea Chowning, 5-9 Jr. Katie Mendenhall, 5-8 Sr. Nessa Timoney, and 6-5 Sr. Lindsey Mazzetti.

Lexington Catholic survived a late rally by Dunbar to escape with a 53-50 victory.  Catholic led 30-19 midway through the third quarter but Dunbar rallied to within 1 (49-48) in the fourth quarter.  Neeley Thomas of Dunbar stole the ball with 5 seconds remaining but a long three point attempt for the tie was off the mark.  Lexington Catholic was led today by Katie Mendenhall with 21 points and 5 assists.  Dunbar was led by Neeley Thomas and Katie Boaz with 14 each.

Tuesday March 14th

Lexington Catholic (29-3) vs. Berea (23-8)   Championship

Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd started the following lineup:  5-8 Sr. Anna Schuler, 5-10 Fr. Chelsea Chowning,  6-5 Sr. Lindsey Mazzetti, 5-8 Sr. Nessa Timoney, and 5-9 Jr. Katie Mendenhall.  Berea coach Jerry Bingham countered with 5-8 Sr. Thameka Baskin, 5-6 Sr. Stacee Blackburn, 5-6 So. Chrissy Himes, 5-9 Sr. Sarah Newman, and 5-3 Sr. Allyson Baker.

Lexington Catholic defeated Berea by a score of 72-61.  Greg Todd, who coached Berea last year, devised a game plan to at least slow Allyson Baker.  Baker, who had scored 41 and 36 in her two previous games, was chased outside by 5-11 Kristin Robertson. When she managed to drive to the basket, Mazzetti and 5-11 Jr. Katie Michalczyk challenged every shot.  Catholic was led by Chelsea Chowning with 16 and Kristin Robertson added 15. Katie Mendenhall tallied 13 points and 7 assists.  Berea was led by the remarkable Miss Baker with 19, although she was 5 of 19 from the field. Chrissy Himes and Sarah Newman added 17 and 13 respectively.
