Madison Central outscored LCA 14-2 in the second quarter on their way to a 49-37 victory. Madison Central held a 17-16 lead in the first quarter and 31-18 at halftime. Madison Central held a 37-27 lead after three quarters. LCA closed the margin to six: 39-33 in the final quarter but Madison Central regained control of the game. The key stat tonight was a 47-26 advantage in rebounds for Madison Central including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Madison Central held a 17-5 advantage in second chance points. This was very impressive condidering their tallest starter is 6-2.
Madison Central shot 35.8% from the field including only two of 17 from beyond the arc. The Indians connected on nine of 18 free throws and scored 16 points off 21 LCA turnovers. LCA shot 31.0% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on seven of 11 free throws and scored 10 points off 16 Madison Central turnovers.
6-1 Sr. Keshawn Simpson led the victors with 20 points and nine rebounds. Simpson was eight of nine from the field and four of seven from the free throw line. 6-2 Sr. Vince Clay added 15 points and 6-1 Sr. Jaquentin Jenkins recorded six points and pulled down nine rebounds. 6-6 Jr. Will Evans led LCA with 18 points and 11 rebounds with 15 of his points coming in the second half. 6-2 Jr. Branden Burdette and 5-10 Fr. Taylor Barnette added six points each. Barnette was two of four from the field including two of three from the three point line.
