Lexington KY February 27th

Lexington Christian Academy (25-4)  vs. Lexington Catholic (16-13) (Girls) (Championship)  -  LCA pulled away in the second half to defeat Lexington Catholic 74-64.  The score was tied 37-37 at halftime but LCA outscored LexCath 17-10 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

LCa shot 44.6% from the field including 10 of 29 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 23 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 37.5% from the field including seven of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on 15 of 23 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 18 LCA turnovers.

5-11 Sr Courtney Clifton led LCA with 26 points including five three point baskets.  5-10 Sr. Anna Martin added 22 points, six rebounds, and five steals.  6-2 Jr. Sarah Beth Barnette recorded 16 points, eight rebounds, and eight blocked shots.

5-8 Sr. Maggie Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 18 points including four three point baskets.  5-8 Sr. Danielle Corbett added 16 points including three three point baskets.  5-9 Sr. Shaneque McGhee recorded 15 points and 15 rebounds.  5-8 8th grader Octavia Wilson  also reached double figures with 12 points.

Lafayette  (10-17)  vs.  Lexington Catholic  (20-7)  (Boys) (Championship)  -  Lafayette kept it close in the first half (36-29) but Lexington Catholic pulled away in the second half to earn an 80-56 victory.  Lexington Catholic shot 46.3% from the field including seven of 17 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 34.8% from the field including only one of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on nine of 19 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

6-3 Sr. Vee Sanford led Lexington Catholic with 29 points including three three point baskets and pulled down 11 rebounds.  6-0 Fr. Jaylen Beckham added 15 points.  6-3 Sr. Taylor Botkin chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds.  5-10 So. William Talbott came off the bench to provide a big spark when the game was close by scoring eight points including two three point baskets.

5-11 Jr. Mike Walker led Lafayette with 13 points.  6-3 Jr. Micah Miller added 11 points.  6-0 Sr. Tyler Barber recorded nine points and nine rebounds.
