Bowling Green KY March 11th Day 1

Franklin-Simpson  (30-3)  vs.  Iroquois  (29-1)  -  Iroquois defeated Franklin-Simpson 42-36 in overtime in a game in which neither team could find their shooting eye.  Iroquois led 23-14 after three quarters but Franklin-Simpson rallied to outscore Iroquois  18-9 in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 32-32 and force overtime.  Iroquois pulled away in the overtime period to earn the victory.

Iroquois shot 24.1% from the field including five of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on 11 of 20 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 28 Franklin-Simpson turnovers.  Franklin-Simpson shot 31.4% from the field including four of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Wildcats connected on 10 of 20 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 21 Iroquois turnovers.

5-5 Sr. Kayla Hickman led Iroquois with 16 points including four three point baskets.  5-9 Sr. Adia Mathies added nine points and nine rebounds.  5-6 Sr. Asia Mathies chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.  5-8 Jr. Victoria Brown pulled down 10 rebounds.

6-0 So. Chastity Gooch led Franklin-Simpson with 15 points and 16 rebounds.  5-6 Sr. Drea Gooch added nine points on three three point baskets.  5-8 Sr. Brittany Payne added five points and eight rebounds.

Montgomery County  (27-3)  vs.  Christian Academy of Louisville  (25-4)  -  Mackenzie Lee hit a layup in the closing seconds to give Montgomery County a 35-33 victory over CAL.  Montgomery County led 26-20 at the end of three quarters but CAL rallied to tie the score at 33-33.

Montgomery County shot 38.9% from the field including only one of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on six of seven free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 17 CAL turnovers.  CAL shot 40% from the field including only two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Centurions connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored  nine points off 13 Montgomery County turnovers.

5-7 Sr. Mackenzie Lee and 5-11 Sr. Elizabeth Prewitt led Montgomery County with eight points each.  6-3 Jr. Mary Jehlik added six points.

6-2 Jr. Antonita Slaughter led CAL with 14 points and five rebounds.  5-11 Sr. Clair Buchanan and 5-11 Jr. Allison Karst added six points each.

Simon Kenton  (27-4)  vs.  Breathitt County  (23-7)  -  Simon Kenton trailed Breathitt County 28-26 after three quarters but outscored the Lady Cats 20-9 in the final quarter to take a 46-37 victory.  Simon Kenton scored 23 points off 21 Breathitt County turnovers and held a 21-9 advantage in three point points.

Simon Kenton shot 28.3% from the field including seven of 27 from the three point line.  The Lady Pioneers connected on nine of 14 free throws and pulled down 34 rebounds.  Breathitt County shot 32.4% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cats connected on 10 of 21 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Simon Kenton turnovers.

5-5 Sr. Chelsea Tolliver led Simon Kenton with 19 points including three three point baskets.  5-10 Sr. Lindsey Figgins added nine points and seven rebounds.

5-10 Fr. Kendall Noble led Breathitt County with 11 points and 12 rebounds.  5-2 Jr. Brianna Deaton added nine points on three three point baskets.  6-2 Jr. Eden Keeton chipped in with eight points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Johnson Central  (26-5)  vs.  Casey County  (27-3)  -  Casey County held Johnson Central to 16.2% from the field including 13% in the second half in a 54-31 victory.  Casey County shot 36.8% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Rebels connected on 23 of 27 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 Johnson Central turnovers.  Johnson Central shot 16.2% from the field including zero of two from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 19 of 27 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored four points off 16 Casey County turnovers.

5-11 Fr. Megan Pittman led Casey County with 21 points and eight rebounds.  Pittman was six of seven from the field and nine of 11 from the free throw line.  5-5 Sr. Kayla McFarland added 12 points and 10 rebounds.  5-7 Sr. Lauren Hatter also recorded 12 points.

5-9 Sr. Hayley Meek led Johnson Central with eight points.  5-11 Sr. Celena Conley , 5-6 Sr. Chelsey Salyers, and 5-11 Sr. Breanna Salyer  added five points each.
