2009 Kentucky Girls Middle School Eighth Grade Tournament
Topic: Basketball

This tournament was held at the Kentucky Basketball Academy in Lexington Kentucky on November 14-15 with the championship being held at Rupp Arena on November 27th.  Twenty-six teams were scheduled to play in this event.

Elite Eight

Crosby 55 Stuart Pepper 44 (Quarterfinal) - Tabitha Mitchell and Erika Hawkins led Crosby with 20 and 10 points respectively.  Raley Johnson led Stuart Pepper with 23 points.

Anderson County 50  Casey County 35 (Quarterfinal) - Makenzie Cann, Eriel McKee, and Destiny Stewart led Anderson County with 16, 13, and 12 points respectively.  Haley Owens led Casey County with 17 points.

Whitley County 37  Powell County 33 (Quarterfinal) - Kandace Craig and Brandy Smith led Whitley County with 14 and 10 points respectively.  Erica Rogers led Powell County with 15 points including three three point baskets.  Kelsey Rogers added 11 points.

Corbin 28  Clay County 24 (Quarterfinal) - Miranda Wilson led Corbin with 13 points.  Sara Robinson led Clay County with 11 points.

Anderson County 42  Crosby 27 (Semifinal) - Makenzie Cann led Anderson County with 23 points including three three point baskets.  Eriel McKee added nine points.  Tabitha Mitchell, Erika Hawkins, and Carolyn Howell led Crosby with nine, seven, and seven points respectively.

Whitley County 35  Corbin 31 (Semifinal) - Whitley County rallied in the final quarter to defeat Corbin and advance to the championship game.  Hallie Jones led Whitley County with 11 points.  Miranda Wilson and Lindsey Barton led Corbin with 11 and eight points respectively.

Anderson County 34  Whitley County 26 (Championship) - Anderson County pulled away in the final quarter to claim the championship.  Destiny Stewart led the rally with nine points in the final quarter.  Eriel McKee and Stewart led the victors with 13 and 10 points respectively.  Hallie Jones and Brandy Smith led Whitley County with 10 and eight points respectively.
