Lexington Christian Academy (0-2)  at  Lexington Catholic (3-1)  (Boys) Decmber 10th, 2009

 

LCA coach Tommy Huston started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Evan Stephens, 6-7 Sr. Will Evans, 6-4 Sr. Charlie Gullett, 5-7 Sr. Will Kindred, and 6-2 So. Taylor Barnette.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-4 Jr. Taylor Martin, 6-3 Jr. Scott Schuette, 6-8 Sr. Tanner Peurach, 6-0 Jr. Seth Beckham, and 6-1 So. Jaylen Beckham.

Lexington Catholic raced out to a 17-3 lead in the first quarter but LCA rallied to pull within three; 45-42 in the third quarter before LexCath closed out the quarter with an 11-2 run to enter the final quarter leading by a score of 56-44.  Lexington Catholic increased the margin to 20 points; 70-50 before LCA made a late run but Lexington Catholic prevailed by the final score of 76-68.

Lexington Catholic shot 52.3% from the field including eight of 19 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 22 of 36 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 20 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 41.7% from the field including 10 of 27 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 18 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Lexington Catholic had five players in double figures tonight led by Jaylen Beckham with 20 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds.  Scott Schuette added 15 points including three three point baskets and also pulled down six rebounds.  Taylor Martin recorded 14 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Seth Beckham and Tanner Peurach added 10 points each.

Will Evans led LCA with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists.  Taylor Barnette added 13 points including four three point baskets.  Evan Stephens recorded 10 points and seven rebounds.  5-9 Jr. Carter Helton also recorded 10 points.
