Tates Creek at Scott County (Boys) December 8, 2009
Tates Creek coach Wayne Breeden started the following lineup: 6-3 Jr. Marcellus Barksdale, 6-2 Sr. Justin Daughtery, 6-5 Sr. Miles Potter, 5-11 So. Darius Gibson, and 6-2 Jr. Ryan Fucci. Scott County Billy Hicks countered with 6-3 Sr. Austin Flannery, 6-4 So. Tamron Manning, 6-8 Sr. Dakotah Euton, 6-3 Sr. Ge-Lawn Guyn, and 6-4 Sr. Chad Jackson.
Scott County won an important early season game between 11th Region powers with a 62-50 victory over Tates Creek tonight. The Cardinals scored 26 points off 20 Tates Creek turnovers and held a 13-5 advantage in bench scoring.
Scott County shot 36.5% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line. The Cardinals connected on 20 of 24 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 20 Tates Creek turnovers. Tates Creek shot 35.6% from the field including two of 10 from beyond the arc. The Commodores connected on 16 of 21 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 15 Scott County turnovers.
Chad Jackson and Dakotah Euton each recorded 16 points and six rebounds for Scott County. Euton also connected on three three point baskets. 6-7 Tanner Shotwell came off the bench to record 11 points and eight rebounds.
Ryan Fucci led Tates Creek with 27 points including 11 of 11 from the free throw line. Miles Potter added six points. Marcellus got in early foul trouble but recorded five points and eight rebounds.
