Kentucky Challenge (Girls)  December 12, 2009  Lexington Catholic High School

Seven Hills (OH) (2-2)  vs.  Franklin County (4-0)

Seven Hills coach Bob Werden started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Sarah Evans, 5-10 Sr. Haley Brunner, 6-2 Sr. Emily Rogers-Fightmaster, 5-5 So. Claire Duncan, and 5-0 Fr. Taylor Jackson.  Franklin County coach Joey Thacker countered with 5-11 Jr. Chelsea Rivers, 5-5 Fr. Raven Timmons, 5-10 Sr. Chelsea Craig, 5-6 Jr. Lacinda Hack, and 5-11 Sr. Andrea Howard.

Franklin County depth wore down Seven Hills in the second half to earn a 58-43 victory.  Seven Hills had four players unable to play today due to injuries and they only dressed eight players for the game.  Franklin County held a 19-4 advantage in second chance points and enjoyed a 23-0 advantage in bench scoring.

Franklin County shot 42.6% from the field including one of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 17 Seven Hills turnovers.  Seven Hills shot 45% from the field including zero of four from beyond the arc.  The Stingers connected on seven of 11 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored seven points off 11 Franklin County turnovers.

Chelsea Craig was unstoppable in the paint and led Franklin County with 19 points and 11 rebounds.  Craig was nine of 12 from the field.  5-10 So. Ashli Mayes came off the bench to add 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Sarah Evans led Seven Hills with 25 points .  Claire Duncan added 10 points and six rebounds.

Dayton Dunbar (1-2)  vs.  Paris (1-3)

Dunbar coach Sharon Beauchamp started the following lineup: 5-6 Jr. Tyiesha Smith, 5-4 So. Shatoria Gullette, 5-9 Jr. Jalisa Porter, 5-7 Jr. Kiarra Straight, and 5-8 Sr. LaQuana Bradford.  Paris coach Andwele French countered with 5-8 Jr. Morgan Crain, 5-7 7th grader Asia Sims, 5-9 Fr. Jazmen Chenault, 5-5 Sr. Kendall Cassity, and 5-4 Fr. Alexis Tye.

Paris scored 28 points off 33 Dunbar turnovers and held an 18-6 advantage in second chance points in a 52-26 victory.

Paris shot 27.9% from the field including two of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Hounds connected on 16 of 27 free throws, pulled down 48 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 33 Dunbar turnovers.  Dunbar shot 27.3% from the field including zero of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Wolverines connected on two of seven free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 20 Paris turnovers.

Morgan Crain led Paris with 15 points, five rebounds, and seven steals.  5-7 So. Shawn Crain added nine points and seven rebounds.  Kendall Cassity recorded eight points.

5-8 Sr. Kenyona Simmon, Shatoria Gullette, and 5-9 Sr. Jhameelah Williams led Dayton Dunbar with six points each.

East Jessamine  (0-3)  vs.  Lexington Christian Academy  (2-2)

East Jessamine coach Jacqueline Coleman started the following lineup:  5-10 So. Loren Mason, 5-8 Sr. Liz Miller, 6-1 Sr. Rachael Harrington, 5-2 Jr. Brittany Quinn, and 5-5 Jr. Emily Underwood.  LCA coach Jason Seamands countered with 6-1 Sr. Sarah Beth Barnette, 6-0 So. Kristin Jacob, 5-11 Jr. Kelli Rinehart, 5-5 So. Kelli Mitchuson, and 5-5 Jr. Rachel Cox.

Lexington Christian raced out to a 63-33 lead after three quarters and rested their starters in the final quarter in a 74-54 victory over East Jessamine.  LCA held a commanding 54-35 advantage in rebounding tonight.

LCA shot 46.4% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on seven of 16 free throws, pulled down 54 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 18 East Jessamine turnovers.  East Jessamine shot 38.3% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Jaguars connected on four of 14 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 21 LCA turnovers.

Sarah Beth Barnette led LCA with 27 points and nine rebounds in only 19:38 minites of clock time.  Kelli Rinehart added 11 points and 11 rebounds and Kristin Jacob also recorded a double-double  with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  5-7 8th grade Katelin Bundy came off the bench to also reach double figures with 10 points.  Kelli Mitchuson dished out nine assists.

6-0 8th grader Alexus Calhoun came off the bench to lead East Jessamine with 17 points and five rebounds.  Brittany Quinn added 13 points and Emily Underwood recorded 11 points, eight assists, and four steals.

Jackson County (1-3)  vs.  Lexington Catholic (1-3)

Jacson County coach Brian Harris started the following lineup: 5-7 Sr. Tenecia Tillery, 5-11 Sr. Megan Carpenter, 5-10 Jr. Chelsea Cunigan, 5-5 Sr. Jessica Lanigan, and 5-6 Jr. Jessica Bowling.  Lexington Catholic coach Tony Talbott countered with 5-9 Fr. Octavia Wilson, 5-11 So. Alex Botkin, 5-11 Sr. Madison Smith, 5-5 Sr. Meghan Cawood, and 5-6 Sr. Anna Gayle Scott.

Lexington catholic scored 53 points off 36 turnovers and held a 41-2 advantage in bench scoring in a 75-41 victory over Jackson County.

Lexington Catholic shot 36.8% from the field including nine of 23 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 16 of 23 free throws and pulled down 39 rebounds.  Jackson County shot 37.5% from the field including two of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Generals connected on nine of 12 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Lexington catholic turnovers.

Octavia Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 19 points including five three point baskets.  5-9 Sr. Lexi Mullikin and 5-9 So. Jill Maronde added nine and seven points respectively.

Tenecia Tillery led Jackson County with 16 points and 14 rebounds.  Jessica Bowling added eight points including two three point baskets.
