Lafayette vs. Tates Creek December 30th Gateway Classic Championship

Lafayette (11-0)  vs.  Tates Creek (6-5) December 30, 2009 Gateway Classic (Championship)

Lafayette coach Greg Coldiron started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Tanner Napier, 6-2 Sr. Domonique Hagans, 6-7 8th grader Jackson Davis, 6-1 Jr. D’Angelo Yarbrough, and 6-1 Sr. Michael Walker.  Tates Creek coach Wayne Breeden countered with 6-3 Jr. Marcellus Barksdale, 6-2 Sr. Justin Daughtery, 6-4 Sr. Ezra Garner, 5-11 So. Darius Gibson, and 6-2 Jr. Ryan Fucci.

Tates Creek led 37-27 after three quarters and held on in the final quarter to defeat Lafayette 51-49 and hand the Generals their first loss of the season.  Tates Creek shot 44.7% from the floor including zero of six from the three point line.  The Commodores connected on nine of 18 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 18 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 40.8% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 18 Tates Creek turnovers.

Marcellus Barksdale led Tates Creek with 18 points and seven rebounds.  Ezra Garner added 10 points and eight rebounds.  Ryan Fucci recorded nine points, eight rebounds, and five assists.

Michael Walker led Lafayette with 22 points including four three point baskets and pulled down eight rebounds,  Domonique Hagans added  nine points .
