Cal coach Don Rice started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Anna Hart, 5-10 Sr. Allison Karst, 6-1 Sr. Antonita Slaughter, 5-9 Fr. China Dow, and 5-7 Fr. Casey Marshall. Lexington Catholic coach Tony Talbott countered with 5-11 So. Alex Botkin, 5-8 Fr. Octavia Wilson, 5-11 So. Liz Walton, 5-5 Sr. Meghan Cawood, and 5-6 Sr. Anna Gayle Scott.
Cal led 42-30 in the third quarter and managed to hold on down the stretch for a 59-56 victory over Lexington Catholic. LexCath actually took a 53-52 lead late in the game but 5-7 Jr. Emily Walden hit a field goal and a free throw to give CAL a 55-53 lead with less than two minutes left in the game. LexCath cut the deficit to one; 57-56 but could never overtake the Lady Centurions. The mood was somber for the victorious CAL team as Anna Hart left the game earlier with a knee injury.
CAL shot 46.2% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line. The Centurions connected on 18 of 25 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 38.6% from the field including three of nine from beyond the arc. The Lady Knights connected on 19 of 24 free throws, pulled dpwn 28 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 CAL turnovers.
Allison Karst led CAL with 28 points including 14 of 18 from the free throw line. Antonita Slaughter added 14 points including three three point baskets.
Octavia Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 23 points. 5-9 Sr. Cassie Williams added 15 points and seven rebounds.
