January 28th – Day 2 featured the boys playing in opening round games.
Glasgow 65 Campbellsville 59 – 6-1 Sr. Cameron Hall led Glasgow with 34 points including 17 of 17 free throws. 6-2 Jr. Michael Bradley added 12 points and eight rebounds. 6-0 Jr. Kerrington Bradley chipped in with 11 points. 6-2 Sr. Bryton Taylor led Campbellsville with 20 points. 6-6 Jr. Jordan Percell, 6-3 Sr. Thomas Down, and 6-8 Sr. Aaron Schwoebel added 12, 10, and 10 points respectively. Down pulled down 12 rebounds.
Walton-Verona 60 Brown 45 – 5-10 Sr. Jordan Ponzer, 6-8 Sr. Cameron Burns, and 5-11 Jr. Vance Sullivan led the victors with 12, 11, and 10 points respectively. Burns pulled down nine rebounds. 6-3 Sr. Tristan Hicks led Brown with 26 points and seven rebounds.
DeSales 60 Newport 57 – 6-4 Sr. Brandon Ritchie, 6-2 Sr. Derek Thornsberry, and 5-8 Jr. Corbin Maynard led DeSales with 15, 13, and 10 points respectively. 6-5 Sr. Casey McDaniel led Newport with 22 points including four three point baskets. 5-8 Jr. Travis Jones and 6-3 Sr. Demarkco Foster added 11 and 10 points respectively.
Hazard 63 Bishop Brossart 60 – Hazard outscored Bishop Brossart 21-16 in the final quarter to earn the victory. 6-0 Sr. Josh Whitaker led Hazard with 20 points. 6-2 So. B.J. Combs added 18 points and eight rebounds. 6-4 Sr. Jacob Rieger led Bishop Brossart with 27 points and seven rebounds. 5-11 Sr. Jordan Armstrong and 6-0 Fr. Justin Saunders added 11 and 10 points respectively.
University Heights 64 Lexington Christian Academy 63 (OT) – 6-3 Jr. Ryan Hudson led the victors with 26 points and six rebounds.6-0 Jr. Matt McGowan added 17 points. 6-5 Jr. Tiberius Smith recorded 11 points and 11 rebounds. 6-7 Sr. Will Evans led LCA with 20 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and six steals. 6-2 Sr. Branden Burdette added 18 points and 6-0 So. Taylor Barnette chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.
Owensboro Catholic 56 Fairview 53 – Owensboro Catholic outscored Fairview 17-10 in the last quarter to earn the victory. 6-3 Sr. Will Payne led Owensboro Catholic with 16 points and eight rebounds. 6-3 Sr. Neil Lanham also scored 16 points. 6-2 Sr. Caleb Collins led Fairview with 22 points including three three point baskets. 6-5 Sr. Brent Jackson added 12 points on four three point baskets. 6-6 So. Michael Terry chipped in with 11 points.
Shelby Valley 73 Ballard Memorial 34 – Shelby Valley scored 37 points off 30 Ballard Memorial as the Wildcats opened their defense of the title. 5-10 Sr. Elisha Justice led the victors with 16 points and seven assists. 6-3 Sr. Taylor Newsome added 12 points and eight rebounds. 6-4 Sr. Tyler Newsome also recorded 12 points. 6-4 Jr. Alex Mallory led Ballard Memorial with 14 points including three three point baskets.
Danville 67 Williamsburg 55 – 5-8 Jr. Jacody Taylor led Danville with 28 points including three three point baskets. 5-11 Sr. Duran Elmore added 15 points. 6-0 Jr. Max Meckes chipped in with 11 points. 6-0 Sr. Corey Fleener led Williamsburg with 14 points and seven rebounds. 6-5 Sr. Daniel Petit also recorded 14 points.
