The first four games today January 29th feature the girls’ quarterfinals.
Holy Cross (Louisville) 61 Harlan 32 (Quarterfinal) – Holy Cross took an 18-4 first quarter lead and scored 27 points off 28 Harlan turnovers in a decisive victory today. 5-7 Sr. Robin Deckard led Holy Cross with 21 points including five three point baskets. 5-6 So. Kim Mingus also recorded 21 points including two three point baskets. 6-2 So. Ashley Mullins led Harlan with 10 points. 6-1 Sr. Anne Corey Johnson added nine points and eight rebounds.
Owensboro Catholic 57 Lexington Christian Academy 55 (Quarterfinal) – Owensboro Catholic trailed 40-36 entering the final quarter but rallied for the victory. Becca Greenwell found teammate Mary Kate Clemens under the basket for a layup in the closing seconds for the victory. 5-11 Fr. Becca Greenwell led the victors with 26 points, 14 rebounds, four assists,and five steals. 5-11 So. Mary Kate Clemens added 13 points and six rebounds. 5-6 Sr. Kaley Robertson chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds. 6-2 Sr. Sarah Beth Barnette led LCA with 30 points including four three point baskets. Barnette pulled down 15 rebounds and blocked four shots. 5-7 8th grader Katelin Bundy added nine points.
Newport Central Catholic 51 Green County 35 (Quarterfinal) – NCC led 23-21 at halftime but pulled away in the second half for the victory. NCC scored 25 points off 33 Green County turnovers. 5-6 Sr. Courtney Sandfoss led the victors with 11 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. 5-11 Sr. Mariah Tabor also recorded 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds. 5-8 So. Micah Jones led Green County with nine points and 11 rebounds. 5-11 Sr. Chelsea Mitchell added eight points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.
Murray 55 Walton-Verona 33 (Quarterfinal) – Murray outscored Walton-Verona 16-0 in the third quarter to gain control of the game. 5-9 So. Haley Armstrong led Murray with 16 points and seven rebounds. 5-6 Fr. Janssen Starks added 12 points including two three point baskets. 6-2 Jr. Sian House recorded 13 points and seven rebounds. 5-11 Jr. Kelli Dixon led Walton-Verona with 10 points.
