Lexington Christian Academy  (17-5)  vs.  Lafayette  (9-15)  (Girls)

Lafayette High School

Lexington, KY

February 11, 2010

Lexington Christian Academy coach Jason Seamands started the following lineup:  6-2 Sr. Sarah beth Barnette, 5-11 So. Olivia Eastham, 5-11 Jr. Kelli Rinehart, 5-5 So. Kelli Mitchuson, and 5-5 Jr. Rachel Cox.  Lafayette coach Allison Tate Denton countered with 5-8 Sr. Lisa Hack, 5-7 Sr. Ali Ross, 6-0 Sr. Morgan Walker, 5-3 Jr. Jariana Gillespie, and 5-4 Sr. Jameka Gillespie.

Lafayette pulled away late in the final quarter to defeat LCA by a score of 54-43.  Lafayette passed the ball extremely well tonight especially from the post, recording 20 assists and made the plays down the stretch to earn an upset victory.  The LCA Lady Eagles definitely miss the low post presence of 6-0 So. Kristen Jacob who had been having a breakout season before suffering an ACL injury.  The Lafayette Generals, on the other hand have been buoyed by the return of athletic 5-8 Sr. swingman Lisa Hack who was recovering from the same injury.

Lafayette shot 47.8% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 14 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 35.6% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on five of seven free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Lafayette turnovers.

Lisa Hack led Lafayette with 18 points including two three point baskets and pulled down eight rebounds.  Ali Ross added 13 points including three three point baskets.  Jameka Gillespie recorded 13 points, four rebounds, and five assists.  Morgan Walker also reached double figures with 10 points.

Sarah beth Barnette led LCA with 20 points including three three point baskets and pulled down eight rebounds.  Kelli Rinehart added eight points and seven rebounds.  Kelli Mitchuson also scored eight points including two three point baskets.
