2010 Kentucky Boy’s Middle School 8th Grade Tournament

Kentucky Basketball Academy

Lexington, KY

February 19-21, 2010

 

64 teams were scheduled to compete for the championship.

Round of Sixteen Saturday February 20th

LTMS 49  Shelby West  36 – Charles “Snoop” Johnson and Jordan Green led LTMS with 15 and eight points respectively.  Deandre Farris, Ralphael Sone, and Brent Kidwell led Shelby West with eight points each.

Wayne County  64  Knox County  47 – Jason Perkins, Corey Stearns, and Peyton Woods led Wayne County with 16, 14, and 13 points respectively.  Woods recorded three three point baskets.  Matthew Barger and Dustin Hensley led Knox County with 18 and nine points respectively.

Lincoln County  46  Simons  16 – Josh Sims led Lincoln County with 19 points.  Darian Burns led Simons with nine points.

Southern  56  Johnson County  39 – Justin Edwards, Adam Isaacs, and Ryan Dishman led Southern with 23, 14, and 10 points respectively.  Braxton Blair and Hunter Ratliff led Johnson County with 15 and nine points respectively.

Crosby  64  Leestown  30 – Craig Owens led Crosby with 20 points.  Marcellus Means led Leestown with 10 points.

Hopkinsville  55  Hazard  54  (OT) – Jaqualis Matlock and Jay Davis led Hopkinsville with 23 and 10 points respectively.  Collier Mobelini led Hazard with 23 points.  Josh Hollan added 22 points including three three point baskets.

Betsy Layne  50  Sebastian  34 – Peyton Case and Dylan Hamilton led Betsy Layne with 14 points each.  Wes Noble and Tyler Hensley led Sebastian with 10 and eight points respectively.

Moss  45  South Laurel  41 – Chris Porter led Moss with 14 points.  Jordan Hall added nine points on three three point baskets.  Trever Grubb and Zack Baxter led South Laurel with 10 and nine points respectively.

Round of Eight Sunday February 21st

LTMS  60  Wayne County  44  (Quarterfinal) – Charles “Snoop” Johnson and Jordan Green led LTMS with 19 and 16 points respectively.  Corey Stearns and Logan Gardner led Wayne County with 15 and nine points respectively.

Southern  45  Lincoln County  29  (Quarterfinal) – Justin Edwards and Ryan Dishman led Southern with 32 and 10 points respectively.  Brent Ruckel and Josh Sims led Lincoln County with 11 and nine points respectively.

Crosby  43  Hopkinsville  37  (Quarterfinal) – Craig Owens and Robert Shaw led Crosby with 17 and eight points respectively.  Jaqualis Matlock and Jay Davis led Hopkinsville with 14 and eight points respectively.

Betsy Layne  49  Moss  45  (Quarterfinal) – Dylan Hamilton, Jarredd Jarrell, and Dustin Rogers led Betsy Layne with 20, nine, and nine points respectively.  Wayne Baird led Moss with 22 points including four three point baskets.  Chris Porter and Jordan Hall added 10 and nine points respectively with each recording three three point baskets.

LTMS  46  Southern  40  (Semifinal) – Teddy Ware led LTMS with 13 points including three three point baskets.  Charles “Snoop” Johnson added 10 points.  Justin Edwards and Adam Isaacs led Southern with 16 and 12 points respectively.

Crosby  37  Betsy Layne  33  (Semifinal) – Craig Owens and Bryce Byrd led Crosby with 12 and seven points respectively.  Dylan Hamilton and Chase Hall led Betsy Layne with 12 and 10 points respectively.

LTMS  49  Crosby  47  (Championship) – LTMS trailed 34-20 in the third quarter but rallied to defeat Crosby for the championship.  Charles “Snoop” Johnson led the comeback with slashing drives to the basket.  Johnson and Jordan Green led the victors with 21 and 10 points respectively.  Craig Owens, Bryce Byrd, and Chris Davis led Crosby with 19, nine, and nine points respectively.  Charles “Snoop” Johnson was names Tourney MVP.

 

I will provide a complete writeup of this event at a later date.  Statistics mentioned here come from the KBA game scoresheets.  This was an excellent event with quality teams and some great individual performances.
