2010 11th Region Tournament (Boys)

Lafayette  (20-6)  vs.  Madison Central  (10-20)  (Boys)

Lafayette defeated a young, scrappy Madison Central team by a score of 61-47.  Madison Central started two freshmen, two juniors, and one soph.  Lafayette shot 41.2% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on 13 of 24 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 Madison Central turnovers.  Lafayette held a 16-7 advantage in second chance points and an 18-3 advantage in three point points.  Madison Central shot 38.6% from the field including one of six from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 12 of 21 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 15 Lafayette turnovers.

6-4 Jr. Tannier Napier led Lafayette with 15 points including four three point baskets.  6-2 Sr. Domonique Hagans added 13 points and 13 rebounds.  6-7 8th grader Jackson Davis chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.  6-1 Jr. D’Angelo Yarbrough also recorded nine points.

6-0 Fr. Dominique Hawkins led Madison Central with 23 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Hawkins was seven of nine from the field including one of one from beyond the arc and eight of 11 from the free throw line.  6-4 So. Hunter Allen added eight points and nine rebounds.

Henry Clay  (15-16)  vs.  Franklin County  (20-7)  (Boys)

A field goal at the end of the game  by Franklin County’s  Lyndon McKee was waved off by the officials allowing Henry Clay to escape with a controversial 44-43 victory over Franklin County.  Both teams had opportunities to put the game away tonight but it came down to the final second.

The score was tied 17-17 at halftime but Henry Clay took a 32-19 lead in the third quarter before Franklin County rallied to cut the deficit to seven; 32-25 entering the final quarter.  Franklin County rallied to take a 43-39 lead late in the game.  Henry Clay’s Brandon Nichols hit a three point bomb to cut the deficit to one; 43-42.  With less than 25 seconds remaining on the clock Wes Kimball recorded a steal and a layup to give Henry Clay a 44-43 lead.  After two Franklin County called two time outs a three point attempt was off the mark but Lyndon McKee rebounded and scored but the basket was ruled to come after time expired.

Henry Clay shot 47.4% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on four of nine free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored nine points off 11 Franklin County turnovers.  Franklin County shot 34.8%  from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Flyers connected on nine of 12 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 Henry Clay turnovers.

6-2 Jr. Trae Stewart led a balanced Henry Clay attack with 10 points and seven rebounds.  5-8 So. Wes Kimball added 10 points and five assists.  5-10 Sr. Marquel Johnson chipped in with nine points including two three point baskets.  6-5 Jr. Daniel Kiesling recorded eight points and nine rebounds.

6-4 Sr. Vance Hall led Franklin County with 27 points including nine of 10 free throws, and pulled down eight rebounds.  6-5 Sr. Michael Samples added 10 points.
