Lone Oak defeated Lexington Catholic by a score of 33-25. Lone Oak got off to a fast start as they opened the game with an eight play scoring drive which culminated in a 10 yard TD run by Davontae Wilson. The Purple Flash led 13-3 at the half. Lexington Catholic scored in the third quarter on a four yard run by Kyle Bolin and a two point conversion pass from Luke Fish to Anthony Kersey to make the score 13-11.
Turnovers and other mistakes doomed Lexington Catholic over the next few minutes as Lone Oak pulled away for a 33-11 lead with 10:42 remaining in the game. Lexington Catholic finally got untracked on offense and pulled to within eight; 33-25 with 2:29 left in the game. Lexington Catholic had one more opportunity but had to give up the ball on downs.
Lone Oak recorded 16 first downs and 342 yards of total offense. The Purple Flash were penalized eight times for 72 yards and lost a fumble. Lexington Catholic recorded 18 first downs including 10 in the final quarter and 287 yards of total offense. The Knights were penalized six times for 33 yards, lost a fumble and had two passes intercepted.
Bryce Wright led Lone Oak’s ground game with 80 yards and a TD on 14 carries. Joeontre Starks carried the ball eight times for 55 yards. Cole Ousley completed 13 of 27 passes for 172 yards. Joeontre Starks caught five passes for 47 yards. Felix Colon added two receptions for 85 yards. Davontae Wilson led the defense with nine solo tackles. Payton Harris and Felix Colon each recorded five solo tackles.
Kyle Bolin led the Lexington Catholic ground game with 59 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Kyle Bolin completed 18 of 43 passes for 199 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions. Luke fish caught five passes for 62 yards. Adam Bush added four receptions for 75 yards. James Maddox caught four passes for 28 yards and a touchdown. Adam Wachs led the defense with eight solo and one assisted tackles. Anthony Kersey added six solo and one assisted tackles.
