Madison Southern coach Shane Buttry started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Brandon McGuire, 6-1 Sr. Aaron Ponder, 5-11 So. Mike Rothermel, 5-8 Sr. AJ Jeck, and 5-11 Jr. Chris Roberts. Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus countered with 6-2 Sr. Jared Pyatt, 6-2 Sr. Nick Ford, 6-3 So. Quan Taylor, 6-0 Sr. Brenton Covington, and 6-0 So. Dominique Hawkins.
Madison Central captured a close 60-57 decision over Madison Southern tonight. Madison Southern stayed in the game on the three point shot tonight as they held a 33-18 advantage in three point points. Madison Central shot 50% from the field including six of 12 from the three point line. The Indians connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 14 Madison Southern turnovers. Madison Southern shot 40.4% from the field including 11 of 33 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Madison Central turnovers.
Dominique Hawkins led the victors with 14 points five assists, and three steals. Nick Ford added 13 points. 6-1 Jr. John O’Bryan gave the Indians a boost off the bench with nine points including two three point baskets.
Aaron Ponder led Madison Southern with 25 points including six three point baskets. Ponder also recorded nine rebounds and five steals. Mike Rothermel added nine points.
