Lexington Catholic coach Chelsea Chowning started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Alex Botkin, 5-10 Jr. Emily Johns, 6-0 Jr. Elizabeth Walton, 5-7 Jr. Bonnie Rhule, and 5-8 So. Octavia Wilson. Ryle coach Patti Oliverio countered with 5-11 Jr. Jenna Crittendon, 5-10 So. McKell Oliverio, 5-10 Sr. Liz Meyer, 5-7 Jr. Ashley Cheesman, and 5-5 Sr. Abby Jump.
Ryle led 45-35 after three quarters and held off a fourth quarter rally to defeat Lexington Catholic 64-60. Lexington Catholic was plagued by foul woes and poor free throw shooting (eight of 15) tonight. Bonnie Rhule and Octavia Wilson fouled out and Alex Botkin was limited to 20:37 minutes and finished with four fouls.
Ryle shot 35.6% from the field including six of 24 from the three point line. The Lady Raiders connected on 16 of 24 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 24 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 38.3% from the field including six of 23 from beyond the arc. The Lady Knights connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 22 Ryle turnovers.
Jenna Crittendon led Ryle with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Ashley Cheesman added 14 points. 5-5 So. Dawn Johnson recorded 11 points including nine of 14 from the free throw line.
Octavia Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 19 points including three three point baskets. Alex Botkin added 11 points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots. Sarah Cawood chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds. Elizabeth Walton pulled down a team high 10 rebounds.
