Boone County coach Greg McQueary started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Trevan Brown, 6-5 Jr. Zane McQueary, 6-9 Sr. Curtis Crabtree, 5-9 Jr. Chase Stanley, and 5-9 Jr. Cooper Downs. (Note: 6-4 Sr. Travis Montgomery was not available for the game due to a knee injury). Sayre coach Ted Hall countered with 6-1 Jr. Reid Freeman, 5-11 Sr. Cabot Haggin, 6-6 So. Ray Brewer, 5-9 Sr. Griffin Miller, and 5-9 So. Mike Smith.
Sayre led 50-46 after three quarters and pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Boone County by a score of 80-64. Sayre shot 51% from the field including nine of 19 from the three point line. The Spartans connected on 19 of 23 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 16 Boone County turnovers. Boone County shot 42.1% from the field including four of 21 from beyond the arc. The Rebels connected on 12 of 14 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Sayre turnovers.
Mike Smith led Sayre with 29 points, four rebounds, four assists, and eight steals. Smith was nine of 16 from the field including one of four from beyond the arc, and 10 of 13 free throws. Reid Freeman added 20 points including four three point baskets. 6-3 Sr. Griffin Patterson recorded 15 points including two three point baskets. Ray Brewer pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
Trevan Brown led Boone County with 23 points and 16 rebounds. Zane McQueary added 16 points and Chase Stanley chipped in with 13 points including three three point baskets. Curtis Crabtree pulled down nine rebounds.
