Walton-Verona coach Cory Miller started the following lineup: 5-11 So. Courtney Sandlin, 5-6 Jr. Lizzie Hoffa, 5-11 Sr. Kelli Dixon, 5-5 Jr. Katie Slavey, and 5-5 Jr. Kara Taulbee. Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-10 Sr. Mackenzie Graham, 5-7 Jr. Emily Justice, 6-2 Sr. Shomari Kendrick, 5-2 Sr. Jariana Gillespie, and 5-5 Jr. Sarah Martin.
Walton-Verona led 33-29 at halftime and pulled away in the second half to earn a 58-45 decision over Lafayette. Lafayette could only score 26 points in the second half and only shot 19.2% from the field after intermission.
Walton-Verona shot 44% from the field including eight of 20 from the three point line. The Lady Bearcats connected on six of seven free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Lafayette turnovers. Lafayette shot 34% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc. The Lady Generals connected on seven of eight free throws, and scored 12 points off 18 Walton-Verona turnovers.
Kara Taulbee led Walton-Verona with 17 points including five three point baskets and pulled down five rebounds. Kelli Dixon added 15 points and 6-0 So. Michele Judy chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.
Shomari Kendrick led Lafayette with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Jariana Gillespie added 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Sarah Martin recorded 12 points including two three point baskets.
