Sayre coach Ted Hall started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Griffin Patterson, 6-1 Jr. Reid Freeman, 6-6 So. Ray Brewer, 5-10 Sr. Cabot Haggin, and 5-9 So. Mike Smith. Bryan Station coach Michael Allen countered with 6-3 S. Larry Morton, 6-2 Sr. Deon Renfro, 6-5 Sr. Jaron Mock, 5-9 Sr. Tim Brown, and 6-0 Jr. Marcus Williams.
Bryan Station led 37-36 after three quarters but Sayre rallied to outscore the Defenders 26-13 in the final quarter for a 62-50 victory. Sayre shot 47.5% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line. The Spartans connected on 19 of 25 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 119 Bryan Station turnovers. Bryan Station shot 33.3% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc. The Defenders connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 17 Sayre turnovers. Bryan Station held a 27-0 advantage in bench scoring and a 17-6 advantage in second chance points.
Mike Smith had another big night for Sayre with 26 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and eight steals. Smith was seven of 12 from the field including two of three from beyond the arc, and 10 of 14 from the free throw line. Griffin Patterson added 13 points. Ray Brewer also scored 13 points and pulled down five rebounds.
6-1 Sr. Loran Smith led Bryan Station with 13 points. Deon Renfro added 11 points. Marcus Williams recorded six points and eight rebounds. Larry Morton started the game but only logged 20 seconds playing time.
