Assumption coach Stephanie Greathouse started the folowing lineup: 5-9 Sr. Maggie Hartlage, 5-8 So. Katie Friedrich, 5-11 Jr. Morgan Foley, 5-5 So. Dee Dee Sliter, and 5-6 Jr. Becca Durbin. Lexington Catholic coach Chelsea Chowning countered with 6-0 Jr. Alex Botkin, 5-10 Jr. Emily Johns, 6-0 Jr. Elizabeth Walton, 5-7 Jr. Bonnie Rhule, and 5-8 So. Octavia Wilson.
Lexington Catholic led 39-29 early in the third quarter but needed a jump shot by Alex Botkin in the final second to earn a 63-61 victory over Assumption. Lexington Catholic shot 51.1% from the field including three of eight from the three point line. The Lady Knights connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 12 Assumption turnovers. Assumption shot 44.4% from the field including one of seven from beyond the arc. The Rockets connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 13 Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Octavia Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 24 points, three rebounds, four assists three steals and recorded three three point baskets. Alex Botkin added 18 points and eight rebounds. Emily Johns chipped in with 10 points. Elizabeth Walton recorded nine points, seven rebounds, and five blocked shots.
Katie Friedrich led Assumption with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and five steals. Maggie Hartlage and Dee Dee Sliter added nine and eight points respectively.
