Lexington Christian Academy (17-10)  vs.  Lafayette (16-13) (Girls)

Lexington Christian Academy coach Jason Seamands started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Kristen Jacob, 5-8 Fr. Katelin Bundy, 5-11 Sr. Kelli Rinehart, 5-4 Jr. Kelli Mitchuson, and 5-5 Sr. Rachel Cox.  Lafayette coach Allison Tate Denton countered with 5-9 Jr. Taylor Mynear, 5-7 Jr. Emily Justice, 6-2 Sr. Shomari Kendrick, 5-5 Jr. Sarah Martin, and 5-2 Sr. Jariana Gillespie.

Lafayette pulled away in the final minute to defeat LCA by a score of 43-34.  Lafayette led 20-14 at halftime in a game that was slowed at times as LCA held the ball in an attempt to pull Lafayette out of their zone defense.  LCA rallied and took a 34-29 lead in the final period.  Lafayette’s Sarah Martin displayed all the coolness of a “Riverboat Gambler” as she drilled a long three point bomb to knot the score at 34-34 with 2:12 left in the game.  Martin struck again with another three pointer to give the Lady Generals a 37-34 lead with 57 seconds left on the clock.  Jariana Gillespie then hit six free throws in a row to close out the scoring.

Lafayette shot 37.5% from the field including five of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 13 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 42.1% from the field including one of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on one of two free throws, pulled down 15 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 17 Lafayette turnovers.

Sarah Martin led Lafayette with 12 points on four three point baskets.  Jariana Gillespie added nine points and five steals.  Shomari Kendrick chipped in with eight points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.  5-10 Fr. Sarah Cooley had a productive night off the bench as she contributed five points and six rebounds down the stretch.

Kelli Rinehart led LCA with 13 points. Kristen Jacob added eight points.

Lexington Christian Academy (17-9)  vs.  Tates Creek (21-4) (Boys)

Lexington Christian Academy coach Tommy Huston started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Joe Duncan, 5-10 Sr. Carter Helton, 6-5 Sr. Max Barjuca, 5-8 So. Tyler Harville, and 6-2 Jr. Taylor Barnette.  Tates Creek coach Wayne Breeden countered with 6-4 Sr. Marcellus Barksdale, 5-11 Sr. Kendale Mack, 6-2 Sr. Todd Bradley, 6-0 Jr. Darius Gibson, and 6-2 Sr. Ryan Fucci.

Lexington Christian Academy led 31-29 after three quarters behind the deadly long range shooting of Taylor Barnette but Tates Creek stormed back in the final quarter to earn a 50-37 victory.  Tates Creek shot 37.8% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Commodores connected on 19 of 22 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 11 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 35.9% from the field including seven of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on two of three free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 11 points off eight Tates Creek turnovers.

Marcellus Barksdale led Tates Creek with 19 points and 15 rebounds.  Ryan Fucci added 12 points and six assists.  Todd Bradley chipped in with eight points and six rebounds.

Taylor Barnette led LCA with 22 points including six three point baskets.  Carter Helton added six points, three assists, and three steals.
