Tates Creek (10-19)  vs.  Lexington Catholic (18-10) (Girls)

Tates Creek coach Justin Cheatham started the following lineup: 5-9 So. Katie Pippen, 5-5 Jr. Michelle Tichenor, 6-1 Jr. Peyton Hisel, 5-5 So. Lexi Whaley, and 5-6 So. Oney Harrison.  Lexington Catholic coach Chelsea Chowning countered with 6-0 Jr. Alex Botkin, 5-10 Jr. Emily Johns, 6-0 Jr. Elizabeth Walton, 5-7 Jr. Bonnie Rhule, and 5-8 So. Octavia Wilson.

Lexington Catholic raced out to a 13-2 lead but had to battle down to the wire to earn a 49-43 decision over Tates Creek.  Tates Creek tied the game 34-34 early in the final quarter on a long three point bomb by Peyton Hisel.  Lexington Catholic recaptured the lead and held on for the victory.

Lexington Catholic shot 42.5% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Tates Creek turnovers.  Tates Creek shot 28.8% from the field including six of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Commodores connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 24 Tates Creek turnovers.

Octavia Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 21 points including two three point baskets.  Alex Botkin added 13 points and 11 rebounds.  5-9 8th grader Rachel Blake pulled down nine rebounds.

Oney Harrison led Tates Creek with 22 points including two three point baskets and recorded four assists and five steals.  Katie Pippen added eight points and six rebounds.

Lexington Catholic (22-6)  vs.  Lafayette (9-18) (Boys)

Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Taylor Martin, 6-4 Sr. Scott Schuette, 6-5 Jr. Craig Floyd, 5-10 Jr. Brian Woomer, and 6-0 Sr. Seth Beckham.  Lafayette acting head coach Sean Noble countered with 6-5 so. Nick Trisko, 5-10 Jr. William Johnson, 6-7 Fr. Jackson Davis, 6-1 Sr. Dee Yarbrough, and 5-9 Fr. Charles “Snoop” Johnson.  Note: Greg Coldiron resigned as Lafayette head coach today citing health issues.

Lexington jumped out early and defeated Lafayette by a score of 88-69. Lexington Catholic longest lead was 36 points; 63-27 in the third quarter.  Lexington Catholic shot 43.8% from the field including eight of 18 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 33 points off 23 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 37.1% from the field including nine of 29 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on 14 of 17 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 10 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Scott Schuette led Lexington Catholic with 20 points and six rebounds.  Taylor Martin added 19 points, 11 rebounds, and six steals.  Seth Beckham chipped in with 10 points.

Dee Yarbrough led Lafayette with 22 points including six three point baskets and pulled down 10 rebounds.  Jackson Davis added 13 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocked shots.
