Henry Clay (20-10)  vs.  Tates Creek (23-4)

 

Henry Clay coach Daniel Brown started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Trae Stewart, 6-0 Sr. Kendrick Prewitt, 6-4 Fr. Jordan Green, 6-0 Sr. Brandon Nichols, and 5-8 Jr. Wes Kimball.  Tates Creek coach Wayne Breeden countered with 6-4 Sr. Marcellus Barksdale, 5-11 Sr. Kendale Mack, 6-2 Sr. Todd Bradley, 6-0 Jr. Darius Gibson, and 6-2 Sr. Ryan Fucci.

 

Tates Creek raced out to a 26-10 halftime lead on their way to a 63-40 victory over Henry Clay.  Henry Clay didn’t have much of a chance for a comeback in the second half as Tates Creek shot a blistering 70.6% from the field after intermission.  Tates Creek shot 55.6% from the field including three of five from the three point line.  The Commodores connected on 20 of 35 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 35.6% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Blue Devils connected on four of nine free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 12 Tates creek turnovers.

 

Ryan Fucci led Tates Creek with 17 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Marcellus Barksdale added 15 points and 11 rebounds.  Kendale Mack chipped in with 10 points.

 

Wes Kimball led Henry Clay with nine points.  6-6 Sr. Daniel Kiesling added eight points.  6-5 Fr. Trey Grundy chipped in with seven points.

Franklin County (13-14)  vs.  Madison Central (20-9)

 

Franklin County coach Scott Chalk started the following lineup: 6-3 Jr. Eric Meyer, 6-3 Sr. Will Bell, 6-5 Jr. Garrett Hamilton, 5-10 So. Casey Tabor, and 5-10 So. Ryan Timmons.  Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. countered with 6-2 Sr. Nick Ford, 6-0 Sr. Brenton Covington, 6-6 Jr. Hunter Allen, 6-1 Jr. John O’Bryan, and 6-0 So. Dominique Hawkins.

 

Madison Central led 59-42 early in the final quarter but had to withstand a furious Franklin County rally to earn a 73-72 victory.  Franklin County took a 72-71 lead with 45 seconds remaining on the clock but Madison Central’s Dominique Hawkins hit two free throws with 23 seconds remaining on the clock to score what proved to be the winning points.  Franklin County missed on two late shots to claim a victory.  This game proved to be a real foulfest as Franklin County was whistled for 29 fouls and Madison Central was called for 19 fouls.  Franklin County had one starter (Will Bell) foul out and the other four starters finished with four fouls each.  Hunter Allen fouled out for Madison Central.  Franklin County attempted 23 free throws while Madison Central visited the charity stripe 40 times.

 

Madison Central shot 40% from the field including six of 11 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 27 of 40 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 19 Franklin County turnovers.  Franklin County shot 54.2% from the field including six of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Flyers connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 21 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Hunter Allen led Madison Central with 15 points and six rebounds.  6-0 So. Kenjah Bosley added 13 points including three three point baskets.  John O’Bryan chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets.  Nick Ford recorded nine points and 10 rebounds.

 

Garrett Hamilton led Franklin County with 18 points and eight rebounds.  Ryan Timmons added 17 points.  Timmons was six of eight from the field and five of six from the free throw line.  Eric Meyer recorded 12 points on four three point baskets.  Casey Tabor also recorded 12 points.
