Wednesday March 9th

 

Bowling Green (24-1) (Region 4)  vs.  Walton-Verona (25-8) (Region 8)

 

Bowling Green coach Lavonda Johnson started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Zoe Sibalich, 5-8 Sr. Adrienne Tarrence, 5-9 Jr. Kendra Barnett, 5-6 Sr. Alexis Lawrence, and 5-4 So. Brittany Vaughn.  Walton-Verona coach Cory Miller countered with 5-11 Sr. Kelli Dixon, 5-8 So. Molly Clinkenbeard, 5-11 So. Courtney Sandlin, 5-5 Jr. Jenalee Ginn, and 5-5 Jr. Kara Taulbee.

 

Bowling Green led 25-21 at halftime and pulled away in the second half to earn a 58-32 victory over Walton-Verona.  Walton-Verona only shot 15.4% from the field in the second half.  Bowling Green scored 25 points off 21 Walton-Verona turnovers. 

 

Bowling Green shot 39.2% from the field including seven of 16 from the three point line.  They connected on 11 of 15 free throws and pulled down 29 rebounds.  Walton-Verona shot 29.5% from the field including five of 18 from beyond the arc.  They connected on one of three free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and did not score on seven Bowling Green turnovers.

 

Alexis Lawrence led Bowling Green with 23 points including four three point baskets and recorded four steals.  Brittany Vaughn added 12 points and six rebounds.  Zoe Sibalich chipped in with 11 points.  Adrienne Tarrence recorded six points, six rebounds, and six assists.

 

Kara Taulbee led Walton-Verona with 12 points on four three point baskets.  Courtney Sandlin added seven points and eight rebounds.  Kelli Dixon chipped in with six points.

Crittenden County (21-8) (Region 2)  vs.  DuPont Manual (30-4) (Region 7)

 

Crittenden County coach Shannon Hodge started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Summer Courtney, 5-9 Sr. Whitney Johnson, 5-9 Sr. Laken Tabor, 5-5 Sr. Jessi Hodge, and 5-6 Fr. Bailey Brown.  Manual coach Stacy Pendleton countered with 6-1 So. Kayla Styles, 5-11 Jr. Kara Wright, 5-10 Sr. Mechael Guess, 5-7 Jr. LeAsia Wright, and 5-3 Sr. Raven Hester.

 

Manual raced out to a 22-8 first quarter and substituted liberally in a 78-40 victory over Crittenden County.  Manual shot 57.9% from the field including four of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Crimsons connected on eight of nine free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 18 turnovers.  Crittenden County shot 38.5% from the field including one of four from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rockets connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored one point off five Manual turnovers.

 

Mechael Guess led Manual with 14 points.  Kara Wright added 13 points.  Kayla Styles recorded eight points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots.

 

Jessi Hodge led Crittenden County with 11 points.  Summer Courtney added eight points and five rebounds.  Laken Tabor chipped in with seven points.

Perry County Central (27-3) (Region 14)  vs.  Butler (27-4) (Region 6)

 

Perry County Central coach Randy Napier started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Kendall Noble, 5-10 So. Randi Carol Napier, 6-0 Fr. Kayla Rankin, 5-9 Sr. Kristen Bowen, and 5-6 So. Whitney Back.  Butler coach Larry Just countered with 5-10 Fr. Danielle Lawrence, 5-8 Sr. Megan Cureton, 5-10 So. Aareon Smith, 5-7 Jr. MacKenzie Martinez, and 5-6 Sr. Heather Wheat.

 

Butler led 34-24 late in the third quarter but Perry County Central rallied to take a 40-39 lead with a little over two minutes left in the game before falling to Butler 42-40.  Aareon Smith recaptured the lead for Butler with a tip-in with 1:48 remaining in the game.  Perry County Central misses two shots in the closing seconds.  Perry County Central star Kendall Noble went out with a knee injury in the first quarter.  She attempted to play again in the third quarter but went down again and was helped from the floor.

 

Butler shot 30.6% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 24 Perry County Central turnovers.  Perry County Central shot 42.9% from the field including two of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Commodores connected on eight of 17 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored four points off 15 Butler turnovers.

 

Heather Wheat led Butler with 14 points including three three point baskets, and added five rebounds, four assists, and five steals.  Aareon Smith added eight points and seven rebounds.  Danielle Lawrence also scored eight points.

 

Kayla Rankin led Perry County Central with 14 points and 12 rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Alyssa Pratt added 11 points.  Whitney Back recorded nine points, four rebounds, and four assists.

Montgomery County (15-15) (Region 10)  vs.  Marion County (25-6) (Region 5)

 

Montgomery County coach Janie Robinson started the following lineup: 5-10 So. Olivia Colliver, 5-7 Jr. Destiney Taul 6-1 So. Macie Spence, 5-5 Fr. Erica Rogers, and 5-6 So. Keria Lockett.  Marion County coach Trent Milby countered with 5-7 Sr. Shakila Goodin, 5-9 Jr. Bre Elder, 6-1 So. Kyvin Goodin-Rogers, 5-7 So. Patrice Tonge, and 5-11 So. Makayla Epps.

 

Marion County defeated Montgomery County by a score of 55-41.  Marion County shot 43.6% from the field including two of six from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on five of 11 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 25 Montgomery County turnovers.  Montgomery County shot 38.6% from the field including two of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on five of 10 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Marion County turnovers.

 

Makayla Epps led Marion County with 14 points and eight assists.  Kyvin Goodin-Rogers added 14 points, six rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Bre Elder also recorded 14 points.

 

Destiney Taul led Montgomery County with 14 points and six rebounds.  Erica Rogers added nine points.  Macie Spence recorded seven points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots.
