Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Nick Trisko, 6-7 Jr. Ethan Burlingham, 6-8 So. Jackson Davis, 5-11 So. Lance Blakley, and 6-3 Jr. Tranard Chester.  Tates Creek coach Wayne Breeden countered with 6-4 Jr. Braxton McFarland, 6-2 Sr. Darius Gibson, 6-4 Fr. Jordan Fucci, 6-0 Sr. Dai Quan Epps, and 5-9 Sr.Brian Tilford.

Lafayette broke open a close contest with a 27-11 run in the final quarter to earn a 67-46 victory over Tates Creek.  Lafayette opened up a 10 point lead in the second quarter; 25-15 but Tates Creek rallied to tie the game at 32-32 with 4:14 to go in the third quarter.  Lafayette rallied to take the lead and ended the contest with a 14-0 run.  Lafayette’s size and athleticism bothered Tates Creek tonight as they scored 25 points off 20 Tates Creek turnovers and held a 38-30 advantage in rebounds.  Tates Creek normally dictates the tempo but tonight the game was played more at the tempo Lafayette preferred.

Lafayette shot 44.6% from the field including six of 11 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 20 Tates Creek turnovers.  Tates Creek shot 35.2% from the field including only one of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Commodores connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 18 Lafayette turnovers.

6-7 Jr. Charles Sweat-Washington came off the bench to lead Lafayette with 21 points and seven rebounds.  Tranard Chester added 14 points including two three point baskets.  Nick Trisko chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds.  Jackson Davis recorded 10 points, eight rebounds, four blocked shots, and three steals.

Darius Gibson led Tates Creek with 19 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Braxton McFarland added nine points and five rebounds.  6-0 Jr. Vincent Mattox chipped in with eight points.
