Bryan Station coach Mike Allen started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Marcus Williams, 6-1 So. Daquice Allen, Sr. Omari Sweat, 5-10 Jr. Tyler Smith, and 6-1 Sr. Jaylen Beckham. Sayre coach Ted Hall countered with 6-2 Sr. Phillip O’Rourke, 6-1 Sr. Reid Freeman, 6-6 Jr. Ray Brewer, 6-0 So. Justin Sanders, and 6-0 Jr. Duncan Courtney.
5-7 So. Marcellus Washington hit a 30 foot three point basket in the closing seconds of overtime to give Bryan Station a 70-69 victory over Sayre. Bryan Station shot 41% from the field including 10 of 26 from the three point line. The Defenders connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 19 Sayre turnovers. Sayre shot 45.8% from the field including four of 10 from beyond the arc. The Spartans connected on 21 of 24 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 13 Bryan Station turnovers.
Marcellus Washington led Bryan Station with 25 points including seven three point baskets. Jaylen Beckham added 16 points and six rebounds. Daquice Allen added 10 points and Marcus Williams chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.
Ray Brewer led Sayre with 33 points, seven rebounds, and four blocked shots. Brewer was 11 of 18 from the field and 11 of 12 from the free throw line. Justin Sanders added 11 points and four assists. Reid Freeman recorded seven points, 11 rebounds, and four assists. Phillip O’Rourke and Duncan Courtney each scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds.
