Clay County coach James Burchell started the following lineup: 5-9 So. Sara Robinson, 5-6 Sr. Natosha Gilbert, 5-11 Jr. Cheyenne Madden, 5-6 Sr. Alisha Mitchell, and 5-7 8th grader Talaura Mathis. Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey countered with 6-2 Jr. Ashton Feldhaus, 5-9 Jr. Heather Hinkle, 5-10 Sr. Kristen Congleton, 5-6 Sr. Ashley Hinkle, and 5-5 Jr. Larryn Brooks.
Madison Central captured a hard fought 42-38 over Clay County. There were 12 lead changes and 10 ties in this closely contested game between two excellent teams. Madison Central shot 32.6% from the field including one of 10 from the three point line. The Lady Indians connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 Clay County turnovers. Clay County shot 39% from the field including zero of 10 from beyond the arc. The Lady Tigers connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored three points off nine Madison Central turnovers.
Larryn Brooks led Madison Central with 23 points including nine of nine from the free throw line, four rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Ashton Feldhaus added 11 points and five rebounds. Kristen Congleton pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked four shots.
Cheyenne Madden led Clay County with 20 points and nine rebounds. Natosha Gilbert added eight points. Alisha Mitchell recorded six points and eight rebounds.
