Marion County coach Trent Milby started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Logan Powell, 5-9 Sr. Bre Elder, 6-1 Jr. Kyvin Goodin-Rogers, 5-7 Jr. Patrice Tonge, and 5-11 Jr. Makayla Epps. Elizabethtown coach Tim Mudd countered with 6-0 8th grader Erin Boley, 5-10 Sr. Darian Ditto, 6-1 Fr. Reaunna Cleaver, 5-8 Fr. Livie Bowling, and 5-11 Sr. Kaylyn Cecil.
Marion County defeated Elizabethtown 68-62 in a game between two of the state’s elite teams. Marion County led 32-19 in the first half but Marion County rallied to cut the margin to two; 36-34 at halftime. Marion County outscored Elizabethtown 16-11 in the third quarter to take a 50-47 after three quarters. There were seven lead changes and seven ties in this game.
Marion County shot 43.1% from the field including seven of 21 from the three point line. The Lady Knights connected on 11 of 22 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Elizabethtown turnovers. Elizabethtown shot 48.9% from the field including three of seven from beyond the arc. The Lady Panthers connected on 15 of 24 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored two points off six Marion County turnovers.
Kyvin Goodin-Rogers led Marion County with 19 points and six rebounds. Bre Elder also scored 19 points and pulled down five rebounds. Makayla Epps recorded 18 points and five rebounds.
Erin Boley led Elizabethtown with 16 points and eight rebounds. Reaunna Cleaver added 16 points and seven rebounds. Cleaver was six of seven from the field and four of seven from the free throw line. Kaylyn Cecil chipped in with 15 points including two three point baskets.
