Montgomery county coach Janie Robinson started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Olivia Colliver, 5-7 Sr. Destiney Taul, 6-1 Jr. Macie Spence, 5-6 So. Erica Rogers, and 5-6 Jr. Keria Lockett. Lexington Catholic coach Chelsea Chowning countered with 6-0 Sr. Alex Botkin, 6-0 Sr. Emily Johns, 6-0 Sr. Elizabeth Walton, 5-8 Sr. Bonnie Rhule, and 5-9 Jr. Octavia Wilson.
Lexington Catholic led 26-17 in the second quarter but Montgomery County rallied to earn a 47-46 victory. The score was tied 34-34 after three quarters. There were 13 lead changes and nine ties in this game. Lexington Catholic had two free throws with no time remaining on the clock for the chance to tie or win the game but missed both free shots.
Montgomery County shot 43.6% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line. The Indians connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored eight points off 11 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 35.3% from the field including five of 22 from beyond the arc. The Lady Knights connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored six points off 17 Montgomery County turnovers. Lexington Catholic attempted 12 more shots (51-39) from the field than Montgomery County.
Macie Spence led Montgomery County with 14 points and seven rebounds. Erica Rogers added 10 points and six rebounds.
Alex Botkin led Lexington Catholic with 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Octavia Wilson added 12 points, seven assists, and three steals. Elizabeth Walton chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets.
