Nicholas County  vs.  Sayre

Nicholas County coach Kevin Reinhardt started the following lineup: 6-2 Jr. Ethan Smith, 6-2 So. Dalton Pope, 6-4 Jr. Zack Howard, 5-7 Fr. Landon Sexton, and 5-11 Jr. Austin Allison.  Sayre coach Ted Hall countered with 6-2 Sr. Phillip O’Rourke, 6-1 Sr. Reid Freeman, 6-6 Jr. Ray Brewer, 6-0 So. Justin Sanders, and 6-0 Sr. David McCulloch.

Sayre raced out to a 31-14 halftime lead on their way to a 73-54 victory over Nicholas County.  Sayre shot 48.9% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line.  The Spartans connected on 11 of 25 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 Nicholas County turnovers.  Nicholas County shot 37% from the field including seven of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Bluejackets connected on seven of 22 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Sayre turnovers.

Ray Brewer had a “monster” game tonight and led Sayre with 29 points, 21 rebounds, and seven blocked shots.  Brewer was seven of 12 from the field and 15 of 21 from the free throw line.  Reid Freeman added 18 points.

Dalton Pope led Nicholas county with 19 points including three three point baskets.  Austin Allison added 13 points.

Sayre               16  15  22  20 – 73

 

Nicholas County (54) – Smith 8, Pope 19, Howard 2, Sexton 6, Allison 13, Bussell 6.

 

Sayre (73) – O’Rourke 6, Freeman 18, Brewer 29, Sanders 7, McCulloch 3, Davis 2, Pergrande 6, Prewitt 2.
