Madison Southern (10-17)  vs.  Richmond Model (11-16) (Girls)

 

Madison Southern coach Summer Simmons started the following lineup: 5-10 Fr. Rachel Ramey, 5-11 Jr. Hayden Westfall, 5-11 Jr. Sarah Smith, 5-6 Sr. Jordan Renner, and 5-10 Fr. Kristen Hayes.  Richmond Model coach Ronald Preece countered with 5-8 So. Madison Keene. 5-8 So. Darrian Botts, 5-10 Sr. Tara Hill, 5-6 Sr. Madison Schneid, and 5-8 Fr. Hayley Hunt.

 

Madison Southern outscored Richmond Model 11-1 in the first quarter on their way to a 61-53 victory.  Madison Southern shot 34.5% from the field including five of 20 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 18 of 25 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 23 Model turnovers.  Model shot 31.7% from the field including one of seven from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on 14 of 24 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 20 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Jordan Renner led Madison Southern with 23 points including three three point baskets.  5-9 8th grader Briana Lanham added 10 points and nine rebounds.  Kristen Hayes chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.

 

Tara Hill led Richmond Model with 15 points and 16 rebounds.  Darrian Botts added 11 points, five rebounds, and three steals.  Hayley Hunt chipped in with 10 points.

Madison Southern (9-18)  vs.  Richmond Model (16-13) (Boys)

 

Madison Southern coach Shane Buttry started the following lineup: 6-2 Jr. Spencer Stone, 6-1 Jr. Tyler Abshear, 6-2 Sr. Brandon McGuire, 5-11 Sr. Chris Roberts, and 5-10 Fr. Damien Harris.  Richmond Model coach Wes Scarberry countered with 6-0 Jr. Jesse Middleton, 6-0 Sr. Wayne Morris, 6-4 Jr. Jon Ballard, 5-10 Jr. A.J. Hammons, and 5-10 Sr. Hunter Conner.

 

Madison Southern defeated Richmond Model 72-63 in overtime.  Richmond Model led 16-7 after the first quarter but Madison Southern rallied and Damien Harris hit one of two free throws with one second left in regulation to tie the score at 56-56 to  force overtime.  There were nine lead changes and eight ties in this game.  Madison Southern shot 36.1% from the field including six of 17 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 22 of 41 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 19 Richmond Model turnovers.  Richmond Model shot 36.9% from the field including five of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Tyler Abshear led Madison Southern with 30 points and 12 rebounds.  5-11 Jr. Mike Rothermel added 11 points and 12 rebounds.  Chris Roberts also scored 11 points.  Damien Harris recorded 10 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

 

Wayne Morris led Richmond Model with 15 points including three three point baskets.  A.J. Hammons added 11 points.  Hunter Conner chipped in with nine points and Jon Ballard recorded eight points and 11 rebounds.
