Woodford County (21-12)  vs.  Madison Central (31-1)  (Semifinal)

 

Woodford County coach Scott Hundley started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. David Greenwell, 6-4 Sr. Addison Hollin, 6-7 Sr. Jay Johnson, 6-1 Sr. Rodney Gross, and 6-2 Sr. William Starcher.  Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus countered with 6-5 Jr. Quan Taylor, 6-1 Sr. John O’Bryan, 6-6 Sr. Hunter Allen, 6-1 Jr. Ken-Jah Bosley, and 6-1 Jr. Dominique Hawkins.

 

Woodford County upset Madison Central  by a score of 60-55.  Woodford County got off to a fast start as Jay Johnson scored their first 11 points and Woodford County led 24-14 in the second quarter and 26-21 at halftime led by Johnson’s 17 points.  Madison Central was not able to find their shooting touch tonight only shooting 28.6% from the field in the first half.  Madison Central rallied in the third quarter and took a 36-35 lead on a three point basket by Dominique Hawkins at the buzzer to end the third quarter.  Woodford County took the lead for good at 39-38 on a three point basket by David Greenwell.  Woodford County and Madison Central each scored 19 field goals but Woodford County accomplished this with 20 (56-36) less attempts from the field.  There were four lead changes and six ties in this game.

 

Woodford County shot 52.8% from the field including two of 10 from the three point line.  The Yellowjackets connected on 20 of 27 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored six points off seven Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 33.9% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 15 of 22 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 17 Woodford County turnovers.

 

Jay Johnson led Woodford county with 26 points, five rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Johnson was 10 of 14 from the field including one of one from beyond the arc, and five of eight from the free throw line.  David Greenwell added 17 points including eight of nine from the free throw line.  Rodney Gross chipped in with six points and 11 rebounds.

 

Dominique Hawkins led Madison Central with 23 points and eight rebounds.  John O’Bryan added 12 points.  Ken-Jah Bosley chipped in with eight points and Hunter Allen recorded six points, seven rebounds, and three steals.

Scott County (29-4)  vs.  Franklin County (17-15)  (Semifinal)

 

Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Tamron Manning, 6-3 Sr. Isaiah Ivey, 6-4 Sr. Josh Harris, 6-0 Jr. Quin Richardson, and 6-1 So. Trenton Gilbert.  Franklin County coach Scott Chalk countered with 6-5 Sr. Garrett Hamilton, 6-3 Sr. Eric Meyer, 6-3 So. Chris Roberts, 5-10 Jr. Casey Tabor, and 5-11 Jr. Ryan Timmons.

 

Scott County defeated Franklin County by a score of 73-39.  Scott County shot 45% from the field including seven of 12 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 12 of 14 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 18 Franklin County turnovers.  Franklin County shot 26.9% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Flyers connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored nine points off 11 Scott County turnovers.

 

Tamron Manning led Scott County with 20 points including three three point baskets.  Isaiah Ivey added 10 points and seven rebounds.  Quin Richardson and Trenton Gilbert each recorded eight points and two three point baskets.  Josh Harris pulled down eight rebounds.

 

Garrett Hamilton led Franklin County with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Casey Tabor added 10 points including three three point baskets.  Ryan Timmons chipped in with seven points, five rebounds, and three assists.
