Lexington Catholic coach Scott True started the following lineup: 5-9 So. Rachel Blake, 5-8 Sr. Octavia Wilson, 5-9 So. Caroline Lynch, 5-4 Sr. Sarah Cawood, and 5-4 Sr. Bailey Browning. Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford countered with 5-9 So. Kerrigan Davis, 5-6 So. Jazmine Richmond, 5-10 Jr. Areanna Porter, 5-6 So. Destiny Carter, and 5-4 Fr. T’Laya Lyvers.
This was Scott True’s first game as head coach at Lexington Catholic and it will be a memorable one as the Lady Knights rallied from a 25-14 deficit in the second quarter to capture a 47-42 decision over a talented young Henry Clay squad. Rachel Blake took over for Lexington Catholic as she scored 10 of Lexington Catholic’s 12 points in the final quarter. Bailey Browning iced the game with two free throws with nine seconds left in the game.
Lexington Catholic shot 47.4% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line. The Lady Knights connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored seven points off 14 Henry Clay turnovers. Henry Clay shot 30.9% from the field including five of 23 from beyond the arc. The Lady Blue Devils connected on three of six free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 15 Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Rachel Blake led Lexington Catholic with 16 points. Blake was seven of nine from the field including one of two from beyond the arc and one of three from the free throw line. Octavia Wilson added nine points, eight rebounds, and five assists. 5-5 Jr. Suzanne Miller chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets.
T’Laya Lyvers led Henry Clay with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Areanna Porter added seven points and 10 rebounds.
