Mercer County coach Chris Souder started the following lineup: 5-6 So. Kandace Gash, 5-6 So. Heidi Huffman, 5-7 Sr. Cassidy Martin, 5-5 Sr. Carli Souder, and 5-4 So. Catheryne Claunch. Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir countered with 5-7 Sr. Kristin Matula, 5-6 Jr. Raven Merriweather, 5-7 Sr. Julia Stough, 5-3 So. Ashley Johnson, and 5-5 Jr. Vanessa Baisas.
Sacred Heart Academy outscored Mercer county 25-8 in the final quarter to earn a 66-56 come-from-behind victory over Mercer County. This was a game of runs as Sacred Heart led 22-11 after the first quarter but Mercer County rallied to pull within two; 32-30 at halftime. Mercer County rallied to lead 48-41 after three quarters. Ashley Johnson and Raven Merriweather spearheaded the Sacred Heart defense and led the decisive comeback in the final quarter.
Sacred Heart shot 46.8% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on 19 of 33 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 23 Mercer County turnovers. Mercer County shot39.6% from the field including eight of 23 from beyond the arc. The Lady Titans connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 19 Sacred Heart turnovers.
Raven Merriweather led Sacred Heart with 24 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Ashley Johnson added 21 points and six steals. 5-9 Jr. Dai Jia Ruffin chipped in with 10 points.
Catheryne Claunch led Mercer county with 22 points including four three point baskets, pulled down 16 rebounds, and dished out four assists. Cassidy Martin added 14 points. Heidi Huffman recorded eight points and five rebounds.
