Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 So. Dee Givens, 6-3 So. Ashanti Thomas, 5-6 Jr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-8 Jr. Ken’yale Demus. Lexington Christian Academy coach Jason Seamands countered with 5-7 Jr. Katelin Bundy, 5-7 Sr. Kristin Rinehart, 6-0 So. Savannah Compton, 5-4 8th grader Carah Burdette, and 5-5 Fr. Allison Brooks.
Lafayette pulled away in the second half to defeat Lexington Christian Academy by a score of 63-34. Lafayette scored 26 points off 25 LCA turnovers and recorded 18 steals. Lafayette shot 46.3% from the field including four of 14 from the three point line. The Lady Generals connected on nine of 12 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and held a 12-0 advantage in bench scoring. LCA shot 41.2% from the field including three of 13 from beyond the arc. The Lady Eagles connected on three of six free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored seven points off 10 Lafayette turnovers.
Dee Givens led Lafayette with 16 points and 11 steals. Ken’yale Demus added 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Sarah Cooley added 10 rebounds and four rebounds. Ashanti Thomas pulled down eight rebounds.
Kristin Rinehart led LCA with 15 points including three three point baskets. Savannah Compton added nine points and 10 rebounds.
