Bishop O’Connell coach Joe Wootten started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Junior Etou, 6-3 Jr. Jamall Gregory, 6-7 So. Leroy Butts, 5-10 Jr. Kamrin Moore, and 6-2 Jr. Romelo Trimble. Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III countered with 6-8 Jr. Jackson Davis, 6-4 Sr. Aaron Evans, 6-8 Sr. Nick Trisko, 6-2 Jr. Lance Blakely, and 6-3 Sr. Tranard Chester.
Bishop O’Connell defeated Lafayette by a score of 68-59. Bishop O’Connell shot 42.3% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line. The Knights connected on 19 of 28 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 24 Lafayette turnovers. Lafayette shot 33.3% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc. The Generals connected on 23 of 33 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored nine points off 18 Bishop O’Connell turnovers.
Romelo Trimble led Bishop O’Connell with 29 points including four three point baskets, six rebounds, four assists, and seven steals. Junior Etou added 17 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Jackson Davis led Lafayette with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocked shots. Tranard Chester also scored 15 points including two three point baskets. 6-6 Sr. Charles Sweat-Washington recorded 12 points and six rebounds.
