Henry Clay coach Daniel Brown started the following lineup:  6-6 Jr. Trey Grundy, 6-4 Jr. Jordan Green, 6-4 Sr. Gerrard Newby, 6-0 Jr. Teddy Ware, and 6-1 Jr. Christen Cunningham.  Trinity coach Mike Szabo countered with 6-4 Sr. Sam Strothman, 5-10 Sr. Miles Rice, 6-1 Sr. Demarcus Page, 5-10 Jr. Trey Ivory, and 6-4 Sr. Darryl Hicks.

Trinity led 24-8 early in the second quarter but Henry Clay clawed their way back in the game and outscored Trinity 15-8 in the final quarter to earn a 53-51 victory.  The Shamrocks had a shot for the win in the closing seconds but the shot missed giving the Blue Devils a big win over the defending state champions.  Henry Clay shot 44.7% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 17 of 22 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Trinity turnovers.  Trinity shot 28.1% from the field including four of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Shamrocks connected on 11 of 11 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 14 Henry Clay turnovers.  Trinity held a 12-0 advantage in second chance points.  Trinity attempted 26 more shots (64-38) from the field than Henry Clay.

Christen Cunningham led Henry Clay with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals, and hit some key free throws down the stretch.  6-5 Sr. Darien Tichenor added 13 points and six rebounds.  Trey Grundy chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds and Jordan Green recorded six points and seven rebounds.

Darryl Hicks led Trinity with 21 points and 14 rebounds.  Trent Ivory added 13 points.
