Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Dai Jia Ruffin, 5-7 Sr. Kristin Matula, 5-10 Sr. Caroline Long, 5-3 So. Ashley Johnson, and 5-3 So. Gretchen Samsel.  Butler coach Larry Just countered with 5-10 Sr. Aareon Smith, 5-9 Sr. Alexis Stallard, 5-10 So. Miah Casey, 5-8 Sr. Brooke Pearson, and 5-10 Jr. Danielle Lawrence.

Butler defeated a cold shooting Sacred Heart Academy team tonight by a score of 46-40.  Butler shot 46.9% from the field including two of six from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 20 Sacred Heart turnovers.  Sacred Heart shot 29.8% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Valkyries connected on 11 of 23 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 30 Butler turnovers.

Aareon Smith led Butler with 11 points and eight rebounds.  Danielle Lawrence added nine points and 11 rebounds.  5-8 Fr. Allison Just chipped in with eight points.

Dai Jia Ruffin led Sacred Heart with 11 points and four rebounds.  Caroline Long added nine points and four rebounds.

 

Sacred Heart  10  12   6  12 – 40

Butler             11 13  16   6 – 46

 

Sacred Heart (40) – Ruffin 11, Matula 5, Long 9, Johnson 6, Samsel 7, Taylor 2.

 

Butler (46) – Smith 11, Stallard 7, Casey 0, Pearson 2, Lawrence 9, Bowden 4, Just 8, White 3, Elliott 2.
