Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 So. Tanner Johnson, 6-3 So. Reese Ryan, 6-9 Sr. Jack Whitman, 5-9 So. Michael Talbott, and 5-11 Sr. Dillon Avare. Western Hills coach Steve Wooldridge countered with 6-1 Sr. Will Davis, 6-0 Sr. Kevin Booth, 6-2 Jr. ZhaVaughn Reed, 5-10 Sr. Justin Frost, and 5-11 Sr. Robby Fox.
Lexington Catholic dominated in the paint outscoring Western Hills by a 54-24 margin. The Knights’ big men Jack Whitman and Tom Banahan combined for 41 points and 21 rebounds. Lexington Catholic shot 41.1% from the field including one of 17 from the three point line. The Knights connected on 15 of 20 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 23 Western Hills turnovers. Western Hills shot 29.3% from the field including four of 19 from beyond the arc. The Wolverines connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored seven points off nine Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Jack Whitman led Lexington Catholic with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots. Whitman was 11 of 18 from the field and two of three from the free throw line. 6-5 Sr. Tom Banahan added 17 points and nine rebounds. Banahan was seven of eight from the field and three of three from the free throw line. Reese Ryan recorded 11 points, four assists, and five steals.
Kevin Booth led Western Hills with 21 points and eight rebounds. Robby Fox added 16 points. Justin Frost recorded 11 points and eight assists. Will Davis pulled down 10 rebounds.
