Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 So. Dee Givens. 6-4 So. Ashanti Thomas, 5-6 Jr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-6 Jr. Ken’yale Demus. Lewis County coach Jay Fite countered with 5-11 Sr. Tori Liles, 5-6 Sr. Darbi Hardin, 6-1 So. Savannah Anderson, 5-5 Sr. Taylor Frye, and 5-0 So. Emily Frye.
Lafayette led 29-23 at halftime and pulled away in the second half to defeat Lewis County by a score of 57-31. Lewis County only shot 14.3% from the field in the second half. Lafayette shot 41.2% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line. The Lady Generals connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 18 Lewis County turnovers. Lewis County shot 33.3% from the field including one of nine from beyond the arc. The Lady Lions connected on six of 14 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Lafayette turnovers.
Dee Givens led Lafayette with 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and six steals. Sarah Cooley added 12 points and five rebounds. 5-9 8th grade Kiara Pankins chipped in with 11 points. Ashanti Thomas recorded nine points, nine rebounds, and five blocked shots.
Savannah Anderson led Lewis county with 11 points and nine rebounds. Taylor Frye added nine points.
