Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Areanna Porter, 5-6 So. Jazmine Richmond, 5-11 So. Hannah Young, 5-6 Fr. T’laya Lyvers, and 5-6 So. Destiny Carter. Sayre coach Scotty Sutton countered with 5-6 8th grade Sydney Strup, 5-7 Sr. Cammie Croney-Clark, 6-3 So. Gabby Bowie, 5-7 Jr. Hadyn White, and 5-8 Jr. Molly Manella.
Henry Clay outscored Sayre 32-6 in the second half in a 58-22. Turnovers were Sayre’s downfall tonight as Henry Clay utilized their quickness and athleticism to score 34 points off 38 Sayre turnovers. Henry Clay shot 31.3% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line. The Lady Devils connected on 12 of 24 free throws and pulled down 44 rebounds. Henry Clay attempted 41 more shots (67-26) from the field than Sayre. Sayre shot 26.9% from the field including two of five from beyond the arc. The Lady Spartans connected on six of 13 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored five points off 13 Henry Clay turnovers.
T’laya Lyvers led Henry Clay with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and eight steals. Destiny Carter added 10 points and six steals. 5-8 So. Kerrigan Davis chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets. 5-8 Jr. Kamari Boyd recorded seven points and 10 rebounds.
Molly Manella led Sayre with 12 points, seven rebounds, and five steals. Gabby Bowie pulled down 16 rebounds and blocked eight shots.
