Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 So. Dee Givens, 6-4 So. Ashanti Thomas, 5-6 Jr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-6 Jr. Ken’yale Demus.  Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey countered with 6-2 Sr. Ashton Feldhaus, 5-9 Sr. Heather Hinkle, 6-2 Jr. Shadae Bosley, 5-5 Jr. Bailey O’Bryan, and 5-5 Sr. Larryn Brooks.

This was a game of surges as Madison Central raced out to a 20-5 lead in the first quarter but Lafayette rallied to take a 44-40 lead at the end of three quarters.  However, Madison Central outscored the Lady Generals 26-17 in the final quarter to earn a 66-61 victory.  There were four lead changes and five ties in this contest.  Madison Central shot 42.3% from the field including six of 17 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 16 of 24 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 41.5% from the field including seven of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Generals connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven Madison Central turnovers.  Lafayette held a 14-4 advantage in second effort points.

Larryn Brooks led Madison Central with 25 points, five assists, and five steals.  Ashton Feldhaus added 23 points and six rebounds.  Shadae Bosley chipped in with eight points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, and four steals.

Sarah Cooley led Lafayette with 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Cooley was seven of 11 from the field including one of one beyond the arc, and two of two from the free throw line.  Ken’yale Demus added 11 points including three three point baskets.  5-9 8th grade Kiara Pankins also scored 11 points.  Dee Givens chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds.  Ashanti Thomas recorded eight points and nine rebounds.
