Owen County  vs.  Scott County (Girls)

Owen County coach Robert Osborne started the following lineup: 5-8 So. Carla Carfora, 5-10 Sr. Madison Gamble, 5-10 Sr. Courtney Waldrop, 5-7 Jr. Madison Reed, and 5-7 Sr. Hannah Neeley.  Scott County coach Steve Helton countered with 5-8 Fr. Bailey Hawkins, 5-6 Sr. Tamara Ray, 6-0 Jr. Tereka Guyn, 5-7 Jr. Danielle DeFoor, and 5-8 Sr. Laura Szorenyi.

Scott County raced out to an 18-6 first quarter lead on their way to a 63-40 victory over Owen County.  Scott County shot 40% from the field including five of 21 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 18 Owen County turnovers.  Owen County shot 26.7% from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rebels connected on 11 of 21 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored eight points off 10 Scott County turnovers.

Laura Szorenyi led Scott County with 24 points, five rebounds, and six assists.  Tereka Guyn added 14 points and nine rebounds.  Danielle DeFoor recorded 12 points, four rebounds, and four steals.  Bailey Hawkins also recorded 12 points.

Hannah Neeley led Owen County with 23 points including four three point baskets and six rebounds.  Madison Reed added eight points and Courtney Waldrop recorded seven points and eight rebounds.

Scott County   18  23  14  8 – 63

 

Owen County (40) – Carfora 0, Gamble 0, Waldrop 7, Reed 8, Neeley 23, Dennon 2.

 

Scott County (63) – Hawkins 12, Ray 0, Guyn 14, DeFoor 12, Szorenyi 24, Boehm 1.
