Trinity  vs.  Lafayette (Boys)

Trinity coach Mike Szabo started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Darryl Hicks, 6-1 Sr. DeMarcus Page, 6-3 Jr. Craig Owens, 5-10 Jr. Trey Ivory, and 6-2 Sr. James Quick.  Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III countered with 6-8 Sr. Nick Trisko, 6-4 Sr. Aaron Evans, 6-9 Jr. Jackson Davis, 6-2 Jr. Lance Blakely, and 6-3 Sr. Tranard Chester.

Trinity defeated Lafayette by a score of 65-51 tonight.  Lafayette led 30-20 in the second quarter and 31-24 at halftime.  Trinity rallied in the third quarter and took a 42-41 lead late in the quarter.  Darryl Hicks was fouled on a three point attempt at the buzzer and connected on all three free throws to give Trinity a 45-41 lead after three quarters.  Trinity gradually pulled away in the final quarter to earn the victory.  The score was tied five times and there were four lead changes in the contest.

Trinity shot 40% from the field including six of 21 from the three point line.  The Shamrocks connected on 11 of 20 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 20 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 39.5% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on 11 of 20 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored seven points off 10 Trinity turnovers.  Lafayette attempted 17 less shots (60-43) from the field than Trinity.

James Quick led Trinity with 18 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.  Darryl Hicks added 17 points and Trey Ivory recorded 14 points including four three point baskets and four assists.

Jackson Davis led Lafayette with 11 points and 15 rebounds.  6-6 Sr. Charles Sweat-Washington added eight points and six rebounds.  Aaron Evans also added eight points.  Lance Blakely chipped in with seven points.  Nick Trisko also scored seven points and pulled down five rebounds.

Lafayette   19  12  10  10 – 51
